Do you wipe the penis every time you change a wet diaper or only if there is poop? I don't ever wipe without poop...I figure DS doesn't need to wipe if DH doesn't need to.....Thoughts?

My DH wipes off his penis after he pees so we do the same for our DS. I feel like it's cleaner and it does not smell like pee, which I cannot stand!

i think its still different since the hubs doesnt pee in his underwear like a baby does in his diaper. i wipe every time. but i also split the wipes in half.

I'm the same way. Unless diaper is just full of pee then I'll wipe him down.

I don't wipe DS everytime (unless he poops of course). I do wipe him in the morning though since he's been sitting in it for 11 hours.

I do mainly because when SO pees its not siting on him for long periods of time. In a diaper sure it absorbs it, but it's also just hanging out around his stuff, so I just do a quick wipe.

I do just because he is wearing a diaper and isn't changed immediatly after peeing each time.

I always wipe because DS was circumcised and it's possible for the circumcision to get infected.

I wipe it because it's been touching the pee in the diaper. And he's got a turtle that hides under the fat pad, so I have to pop it out and clean it. I'm trying to avoid adhesions.

We wipe at every diaper change. As pp said, I think the difference is he is sitting in the pee for a while.

I do... We had an issue early on with the skin re-attaching itself, so now I make sure to pull the skin down every time and wipe.

this. and after naps. other then that, I catch a wet diaper pretty quick.

Yes, because it's been pushed up against a dirty/wet diaper, unlike an adult who's generally not pissing in their underwear.

I wipe everything everytime. Even his butt. I figure that it can't hurt to clean everything. I also think it has contributed to his not ever having had a diaper rash. ::knock on wood::

I wipe everytime, but just a quick wipe. I only lift and do a good job when he poops (which is once a day)! I never gave it a ton of thought....

I wipe him in the morning since the diaper has been on all night. But otherwise, I only wipe if there is poop.

I only wipe if there's poop or if it's a really saturated diaper. Pee is sterile.

This! The only issue DS has ever had is his penis gets red and a little swollen when he has a tooth coming in.

I wipe it every time. I think it is different because the diaper absorbs the pee and his penis is cushioned by the pee-full diaper
