Bum Genius AIO vs OS

I understand the fundamental differences between the two types of diapers (AIO vs pocket and set sizes vs one size). I'm reading the reviews on cotton babies and they both seem to stack up in a similar fashion.

For those of you who have used both, which do you prefer and why? Or if you know of a previous post or blog that goes into the comparison I'd love a link.

Thanks!

Re: Bum Genius AIO vs OS

  • I use both.

I prefer the AIO because they are trimmer and they do have a pocket if you want to add more absorbency to them. The downside, is that I'd have to buy diapers each time DD grew out of one size and into the next.

The OS BG's are great too, just bulkier. However, once you have a stash of these you wouldn't need to buy anymore because they grow with your child.

I have a combination of both...but mostly the OS.

  • prefer the OneSize 3.0's over the AllInOnes because the AIOs take forever to dry, and seem to hold odor more. I also use hemp inserts in my 3.0's which I prefer to the standard microfiber inserts (like what's sewn into the AIOs.)  I also like OS because it fits longer, thus saving a ton of money in the long run.

  • I have used AIOs in sizes xs and sm. I like them and used them alongside the OS until he outgrew the smalls. Once he outgrew them we use only the OS. I think by the time he was well into the size small AIO, the OS diapers were starting to fit very well and look trim, so there was no need to go up to the medium AIO. I hate how slow the AIOs are to dry, but we had/have enough small-size diapers that I was able to lay them on the rack to dry (after one run through the dryer) and they would usually be fine to use by the next day.

  • I haven't had a problem with my AIO's drying. I turn them inside out and they dry in one cycle.

  • I had both. I found the AIOs took longer to dry and held the stink in. To get the stink out I had to wash them twice. Once with all the diapers and then flip them inside out and wash them again. I sold them b/c it was too much of a pain to do that everytime I washed diapers. Plus I like the OS diapers better anyway.
  • I use both and prefer  both for different reasons. I like the OS pockets for night but the AIO for day.
  • I prefer the AIO for the smaller sizes and OS for everything beyond that.  I sort of wish we had held off on using our OS w/DD because it did put more wear & tear on them.  But, I just had some converted to snaps, so that will extend the life.  We've been using the same diapers on DD from 6 weeks to 18 months, so overall the BG OS is a great diaper.  I like that they dry quickly and that I can add extra absorbancy at night.
  • I really love them both. I like the AIOs better because I hate stuffin!  I also like the look better since DS is in the largest size I see a ton of snaps on the rise and I look the plain look better. I have about half and half. I only bought the Large and a couple Med in the AIOs and skipped the smalls. He was in Med so quickly I'm glad I didnt get smalls
