We're flying out on Friday for our trip to Hawaii. We'll be on Oahu for 4 days and Maui for 5 days. We have Oahu pretty well planned out as far as activities, but need ideas for Maui. Any suggestions?
Kathy, can you tell me more about the Olivine pools?
Thanks!
Re: Lemen and MrsAshley
The Olivine Pools were my favorite part of our trip to Maui! They are located in the West Maui Mountains. The drive is a little bit windy but not bad at all (I get car sick very easy). It's a pretty short hike down to the pools. The rocks create a little ocean-side pool. The water was extremely calm when we were there, and then on the other side the waves are *huge* and crashing on the rocks. They are very shallow too. It was so fun! DH didn't swim because he cut his foot and was afraid of bacteria...boo!
We went to Oahu and Kauai, so no suggestions on Mauai, sorry! What are you planning on doing on Oahu? We stayed with a friend of ours and he kind of planned our time there and it was wonderful. I highly suggest going to Lanikai beach... it is the most beautiful, pristine beach I've been to (and we've been to a few amazing beaches). It's not secluded, but it's not busy either.
Our friend also took us on the "pillbox" hike right above Lanikai (he lives in Kailua) at sunrise. If you like hiking, I highly recommend it. It's extremely short (maybe 50 min there and back + time to enjoy the view). The view was breaktaking.
I am extremely jealous that you get to go there on Friday
Enjoy!
Here are some pics of what I've mentioned ---
