SAHM's

Do you ever find your days are really long? I love being home but I sometimes get lonely! It is going to be very hot/sunny here so I am leary of taking her for a walk. We are having Gracie's baptism Sunday and I have lots to do to get my house in order. I dunno...I just feel so unmotivated lately.  Just needed to vent a bit.

Re: SAHM's

  • Take her for a walk early in the day, before it gets super hot.  Just make sure to use a hat and/or sunscreen. Or maybe go to a mall, where it will be air conditioned.

I don't SAH, but I have a good friend who does, so I have a couple of ideas from her.

Do you have any SAH friends that you can set up meetings/playdates with?

Are there any mom's groups you can join? My friend's babywearing group meets at libraries sometimes, and at a mall sometimes, so the moms can get coffee while the kids play in the mall "playground" areas.

There are groups like Stroller Striders which encourage moms to meet up and (obviously) take walks together.

  • Some days are like that and others fly by, just like the days when I was working outside the home. I agree, take LO out early. I kind of think of my days in chunks, broken up by her naps. That sort of helps.

Sometimes it helps to have a list, it feels nice to check things off.

  • I have two so they tend to drive me crazy if I am at home too long with them. I try to go out once a day somewhere to run errands or walk around the mall or something. If I don't, the day becomes too long. I also try to take a walk with them everyday and naptime is very important. The list thing helps too. Lately I have also tried to schedule some outdoor time into my schedule. I belong to several meetup groups and I try to do something with them once or twice a week too. It gives me something to look forward to. I also just bought zoo passes so we plan to go there often.

We know several SAH moms and we do have playdates. I think I am just in a funk. Thanks for the tips. I may look into a mom group.

I often get lonely. The few friends I have with kids work, so we can't do playgroups or anything. The only time we get out is for our daily coffee/breakfast with my dad or if I have errands.

As for the housework/motivation, I'd try to break it up into smaller tasks. Make a list so you stay on track.

  • Isn't it funny how things work out, I've been feeling just the opposite.  Lately I've been thinking that I really expected to have more time, that the days seem to go even faster than when I worked,  We do go play at my folks regularly and the errands still seem never ending, but there are days I planned on us going to the park or zoo or for a swim and all of a sudden it's 6 and we're waiting for dad to get home!
  • It seems like its either a super long day or it goes so fast I wonder where the day went! On the long days I find myself on the computer a lot, or calling to talk to DH a couple times to find out when he will be home. On the other days he is coming in the door before I've showered or even eaten yet...
