First Appointment Today

I can't wait!  I don't know how I'm going to stay focused until 4:15 PM.

I know I won't be having an ultrasound yet, but I'm expecting to go through our histories and have some bloodwork done. 

The appointment is with an OB coordinator (not an OB) and I guess I really don't understand what that is.  Does anyone know what an OB coordinator is?  Do they have a medical degree?

    My practice is the same, you don't see an OB your first visit.  You see the ob coordinator, who in this office is a Nurse Practitioner, but I have also heard of them being nurses or Physician's Assistants.   I guess it probably depends on the office.

     

    So I guess I'm not much help but good luck at your appt!  :)

    Good luck!!! So exciting.  I don't have an OB coordinator in my doc's office but I think my friend met with one and she gave her info on what she could and couldn't eat, safe meds, and then talked through how often she'd be coming in for checkups (and maybe even scheduled a bunch of them?).  Basically just laid out the whole pregnancy as far as how she'd be interacting with the doctor's office.  Do you know when your first appointment with the real live OB will be?

    No not yet.  I believe she will schedule the first one (and my first ultrasound!) today.

    PP is right, it's probably a nurse practioner.  This is how my first appointmen with my first pg went.  I met with the nurse practioner and she had a ton of medical history questions.  Gave me lots of handouts, information on safe medications, etc.  Then I had bloodwork after.  GL!
