What was your LO's first reacting to meats?

We tried chicken today and he HATED it. And we even mixed it with sweet potato but that didn't work. He gagged a couple of times and then refused to eat anymore food...and he usually gobbles up his food! What did your LO think of meats?

DD hates the meats! She won't eat ANY of it. I really can't blamer her though because it's basically meat pudding. EW! We have been giving her small pieces of lunch meat & she really seems to like it. We've also given her some shredded chicken & she likes that too. I think she's going to do better with "real" food than she did the pureed baby food.

He hates chicken by itself! But he'll do turkey rice or something mixed like that.

As in puree meat or finger food? He hated it the couple times we tried it from the jar, and he never turns down food lol. As a finger food though (not pureed) he LOVES it.

His first meat was Chickfila chicken so needless to say he loved it. I made him some chicken at home and he didn't really like it. The next day I mixed the leftovers with squash and he ate it all up.

James had one bite of turkey and gravy and wouldn't open for more. I can't blame him...YUCK! It even smells gross! I did get some mixed stuff, like with rice and sweet potato and other stuff. Might try that stuff. But we may have to wait until he can have it as finger food. My DD wouldn't eat meat until she was about 3 years old and then she was super picky!

We tried meats about a month ago, they hated it. They swallowed the first few bites but then DS wouldn't take anymore and would gag when I tried to get it near his mouth. DD was hilarious, she would take it in her mouth and then hold it on her tongue and just look at me with her mouth open...so I scooped it back out. We thought we would try again when they are 8 months. Pedi isn't concerned that they aren't eating meats.

we started baby led weaning/baby led solids at 7 months after 1 month of purees. he got meat at 8 months as a finger food. i would wait until you think he's ready for finger foods b/c honestly, would you eat chopped up, watered down meat? sounds gross to me!

Loved them. Loved the chicken and turkey pur?e I did (we never did jars) and loved the finger foods. Still does.

I am really shocked at how many people's LOs hated them. I gave Jackson the pureed meats already mixed with a veggie, and he ate them right up.

For the most part she hates all meats. I've tried chicken noodle, chicken and veggies, chicken and apples, beef veggie, and a bunch of other kinds. She shudders in disgust when I give them to her, it's pretty hilarious.

LO was not a fan when we introduced baby food meats. LO went straight for the 'people food' instead. we give him shredded chicken, meatballs, and lunchmeat.
