Pregnant after 35

Ladies im a TTC gal, may i ask you a ?

Hi ladies, im 38 and will be 39 in sept, ttc our 1st, this is our 8th cycle ttc and at 6 i got worried!!! I have had b/ws done and am waiting on an appt for the Fertility Clinic.....Indifferent anyway my ? is: Have any of you conceived with high FSH number? Im kinda freaking out, my FSH back today and it is 11.2 on CD2 and LH is 10.6, i had my progesterone checked too and it was 56... i forget its in my siggy anyway. Just wondering if these numbers are ok, doc said they were normal......thank you so much in advance!!!

Re: Ladies im a TTC gal, may i ask you a ?

  • I haven't had all of my levels checked in a few years but I don't think a FSH of 11.2 is all that high.  Mine was over 9 and I figure it must be higher now since I'm older (I'm 38 as well) but at the time I remember my RE calling it "borderline high."

I know it's hard not to worry but once you see a fertility specialist they will be able to explain all the numbers to you and also give you your odds of getting pregnant on your own and with the various fertility treatments.  With just the numbers you listed it certainly doesn't seem like you're out of the game!

Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12

Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck.  Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.

  • you need to have your AMH checked. Most doctors agree it provides more information than FSH alone, which can vary cycle to cycle.

  • I went through fertility treatments to get pregnant.  My RE didn't ever check my FSH.  he said it is different every time.  He said the true test is how you react to the fertility drugs.
  • Thanks ladies, ive just discovered its an 8-9mth wait (public) to see a specialist, im going to talk to me doc tomorrow to see if she can do anything in the meantime!!!! Thanks again and congrats to you all!!!
