Which store bought nipples are similar to the hospitals?

My little guy has gotten really picky about his nipples. He eats so much better when using one from the hospital. We had a bunch of them that I had been handwashing and reusing but now it's getting time to toss them. We use Dr. Brown bottles and he is not a fan of the nipples. Any suggestions on which ones to buy?

 Thanks!

We had the same issue when we came home.  I tried Avent, Drop ins, Nuk...you name it I tried it.  I probably spent over $100 on bottles our DDs didn't like.  We ended up going w/Evenflo Classic (12 for $12).  The nipples are silicone but shaped very much like the rubber ones from the NICU. HTH

  • Thank you! I'll look into those. I was sure that some of you had similar issues and I didn't want to spend a small fortune before we found the right ones.

  • We used the cheap-o Evenflo medium flow yellow latex ones.  They were most like the Similac ones at our NICU.  We also used the Medela medium flow.  But he liked the Evenflo ones best.

I've also heard of people selling new Similac nipples on Ebay.

  • Our hospital used Soothie pacifiers and I found Soothie bottles at Walmart and Target.  :)

Amazon.com sells the ones our hospital used.  DS was fine on Dr. Browns, then Born Free, so we didn't end up needing to get them, but it was good to know they were an option.

  • Thanks. I'll pick up som Evenflo ones today. I have access to more disposible nipples from the hospital (I work in the well baby nursery) but I would prefer something that doesn't create as much waste since those nipples are not recyclable.

    Thanks again!

  • Our NICU gave us a ton of extra nipples. See if yours will give you any. We also use the cheap Gerber bottles and they work just fine.

  • we used adiri at first because dd has a super wide latch. (which was great on me- but notsogreat for the average bottles or small nippled bottles like dr. browns)

we then transitioned to bornfree which she loves! again, it has a wide top. we've also tried avent with success- it only has 3 parts and vents just fine.. no fancy pieces... and she doesn't have any extra gas or anything.

she absolutely hated dr. browns and wouldn't even take nuk. (the nipple was weird shaped.)

all her pacis have been soothie- and they make bottles as well... good luck.. it can be a long journey! :) hehe.. then you get to decide on sippy cups! :)
