recommend your diaper bag!

I don't know anything about diaper bags Stick out tongue. Based from your experience, what are the must haves for a diaper bag? I am looking for something that is practical and at the same time stylish.

Re: recommend your diaper bag!

  • I'm just using a LeSportsac bag.  It's roomy but still small enough that it's not a pain in the butt to carry around.  I haven't had to wash it yet but I know that some people usually just throw their LeSportsac bags into the wash to get them clean.  Stick out tongue

  • Storksak Emily in black. LOVE IT! LOOOOOVE IT! It also comes in a nice pewter or bronze. Super stylish!

I also have a nice Kate Spade that I used for the first 4-5 months. But I like that the Storksak zips closed and looks like a stylish bag, not just a diaper bag. Plus it is easy to carry and put on my handlebars.

Other brands that are popular.... Petunia Pickle Bottom, Ju Ju Be, OiOi, Skip Hop, Diaper Dude.... To name a few!

  • I got the Skip Hop Duo Deluxe.  I was a little disappointed considering how highly it's rated on Amazon.  I like the size, style and the magnetic buttons, but I don't like how deep it is and how the Skip Hop diaper changing kit (separate purchase) is HUGE for it and doesn't really fit in. The bag fits nicely on the stroller, but when I carry A around, I just slip the necessities in a small nylon non-baby bag.

  • I have a kate spade that we always use if it's a long(er) trip ... Only because we spent so much money on it. Other than that, I never carry around a "diaper bag". I usually just carry stash this small clutch that holds 3 diapers, a pack of wipes and unfolds to use as a changing mat into my purse or under the stroller.
  • I have the Tea for Thames bag by Petunia Pickle Bottom. Not only do I love the grey and yellow color combination, but that it's a backpack style, so that I can carry the baby while the bag is on me and not have to worry about it slipping off my shoulder. I like that it comes with its own diaper mat and wipes case (which I think most have)Haven't used it yet-but so far I love it ;)
  • I was just using the bag that came with my FreeStyle pump.

Then my mom got be this awesome purse (Franco Sarto Carlise Tote in Green Floral Paisely) that is big enough for me to fit what Libby needs on one side and all my stuff on the other.  I love it!  I just keep a Kushies On The Go Wet Bag filled with her diapers, wipes, changing pad and put in in there along with a few small toys and away we go.  Then, when we're back home I just take it out and have my purse to myself (during the work week I usually throw some snack and a bottle of water in there).

For bigger excursions will pack up the Dad Gear Backback that I got for J.  It fits everything we'd need for all day out or even over night (we've not used it for that yet though).

  • I have the Skip Hop Studio Diaper Tote.  I really like it because it can hold all of Elyse's stuff, plus I can keep my wallet and lip gloss in the two front pouches.

I used to have the Skip Hop Via Messenger, but it was two small to hold all of our stuff.  Luckly the edges started fraying so the owner of the store returned it for me.  She said she's never seen that happen with a skip hop bag.

One thing I don't like about the studio tote is that it doesn't fit nicely on the back of the stroller.

I have a little red kate spade bag that I'm going to use for the first time when we go to Sex and the City 2 this week.

  • I have a kate spade that I use the most.  DH has a diaper dude and I don't really love the set up, oddly sized/placed pockets and it's hard to stuff much in the main compartment.  But I'm probably just use to the very open design concept of the KS - I like to just toss things in at the last minute.  I might get us another bag that zips and is cheaper (maybe not even a diaper specific) to use to pack him up for daycare (diapers, bottles, blanket - they keep a change of clothes on hand at all times).

I also have a little attachment to the ergo - changing pad, with some small pockets that I really like for quick trips (like a lunch out or shopping trips.  sometimes i even take that for all day trips and then just leave the extra diaper supplies in the car to grab as needed).

If I'm grocery shopping or something near home I usually just leave the diaper bag in my car if I even remember to bring it - that is a bad habit but J has never had a blow out and doesn't usually spit up.

  • I bought a Kalencom Laminated Buckle bag from Amazon. It comes in a ton of prints and has worked out great for me. There is a changing pad, zippered pouch, and insulated bottle bag included.

  • Thank you all! I'll check these out!!
