Trying to Get Pregnant

I need to simmer...

I know everyone says that you shouldn't stress yourself out about TTC because it's harder to get preggo.  BUT.....how in the world am I not supposed to be thinking about it all the time when I"m charting my temp and taking OPK tests every day?!  Does anyone else struggle with this?  It's all I can think about...and we just started trying!  Ahhhh!

Patience is your friend. There are people here who have been trying for years, you just learn to live with it.

    "Preggo" is not a word.

  • I'm with you.  This was our first "real" cycle trying, and I was absolutely obsessed with it. I think next month I am goiong to try to chill out a little bit and let nature take its course.  We are not in a big hurry yet, so I think we just need to have fun at this point until/unless we have something to worry about.
  • How are you charting your temps? Are you using Fertility Friend? All I do is take my temp each morning, enter my data in FF, and go. The more cycles this is taking, the less stressed and obsessive I am becoming. How long have you and YH been trying?

ETA: I see you just started. Just take a deeeep breath. I don't mean to be a debbie downer, but you've got to prepare yourself for the fact that it doesn't always happen right away for a lot of couples. It might happen this cycle, or it might happen in six months. KWIM? If you're stressing that much about it now.. how will you feel then? Yikes! :)

  • To me it is just fuvking with a few extra steps and hoping an outcome oppsite of what I spent a number of years hoping for.

Plus it is only potentially stress sex a few times a month, the other times it is banging for the joy of banging.

Yes, I am using FF to chart my temps, and this is the first cycle that I started using the OPKs....only on CD5 right now.  We just started trying...this will be the second cycle and I know it could take a while.  I'm just trying to keep telling myself that it will happen when it happens and I can't control it.  I need to put on my patient panties :)

  • Charting and using OPKs does not necessarily have to equal stressing.

What stresses me out more is people using the term "preggo" Wink

No, this is the second cycle of trying, third cycle off BCP after 10 years. So far am having NO signs of ovulation so it's in the back of my mind....even though I know that it can take up to a year for my body to regulate after BCP.

ok well i guess i misread it...

but you know...it is still early... plus i mean its up to you, but i prob wouldn't start OPKs this early in the cycle, but to each their own!

  • As Patty said, you learn to live with it. :) You'll calm down if you're still not preggo (!!) in a couple cycles. :)  Good luck!

Oh, my OPK kit instructions said to start testing the first day after the end of my period.  Should I not be testing this early?  Now I'm confusing myself :)
