NTR: my dad prob. has cancer. again. :(

to make a really long story short, my dad had cancer in his lymph nodes when he was 18.  they did radiation (around 1965, before they really knew what they were doing with it) and it really messed up his intestines in the long run (they have weak spots and basically kink up a lot). he has had to have surgeries to remove kinks in his intestines (usually they loosen up themselves but if they don't it has to be done surgically).

he has one functioning kidney, it works at only 30% capacity.  in 2004 (1 month before my wedding) they placed a tube into his kidney and out his back to help drain it.  because of the radiation, his ureter is shot and he has a lot of stones that can't pass so they drain the kidney out his back.  it was supposed to be a temporary fix but 5.5 years later, it's still there. 

he had cancer in his colon in 1998 - had 1/3 of his small intestines removed, did chemo.  lots of trouble with blockages since then, esp in the last 6 months or so.

he had a colonoscopy today and they found 4 polyps, each about 1.5 inches in size.  they did a biopsy but because of how quickly they grew it's pretty much a guarantee that it's cancer.  either way, he's going to have to have surgery again and the doctor even mentioned the possibility of removing the entire colon.

uuuuuggggggghhhhh.

not that this matters AT ALL but my dad is the nicest, kindest man you will ever meet.  i don't know a single person who knows my dad that doesn't totally adore him.  he really has been a trooper through all of this, never complains, only takes sick days when he's in the hospital.  i can't tell this is all really wearing on him and my mom.  i can't stand to see them go through this all again. 

sorry to dump.  dh is at his first day at his new job so i didn't feel like i could call him.  i have to wait until he's home.
