Babies: 9 - 12 Months

WDYT?

DD has refused to take her afternoon nap (nap #2 of the day) for the last two days.

The last two days have also been 85 degrees and super humid (not common ever in the part of MI we're in, so we have no AC.)

Coincidence?  Is it b/c it's just too hot and she's uncomfortable?  Or, is she dropping her 2nd nap of the day and going down to just one nap?

She's about to be 9 months ...  but I thought that was still too soon to go down to one nap.

Help please.  :(

ETA:  She doesn't seem uncomfortable and I have her in short sleeved and shorts pj's with a fan going.

Re: WDYT?

  • Since it has been warm the last two days and hasn't nap, ya almost have to think they are related. Last night I had Trent sleep in just his diaper with a light blanket have you tried that?

  • Is she fussy if she misses the nap?

9 months is a little early to be going down to one nap. DS still takes two naps a day, one late morning and one mid afternoon.

  • sometimes one of my dds just decides she's not going to take that afternoon nap...then after a couple days of boycotting it she goes back on her regular schedule...then teh cycle repeats...it could just be phase...or it could be the heat...she could be trying to drop the 2nd nap, but it is a little early for that...

    That's what I'm thinking too.

Yea, she's a little fussy ... but not horrible.

She *has* been taking a 9:30 (ish)  nap and then a 2:30 (ish) nap and it's been working out great.   How much time in between your lo's wake time and naps?

That's good to know ... thanks for your input!

  • She could be dropping her second nap already.  I think DS started dropping his around 9 months old.  He will still take a short one (30 minutes) every once in awhile...but not everyday.

Haven't tried that, but I think now I will.  Thanks.

Must be the weather because it was in the high 80s here last night and DS was up like every two hours at night when he normally STTN and had a hard time napping as well.

  • My LO just dropped his second nap and has started a long nap from about 11:30 to 1:30 which tides him over the rest of the day except for possibly a little cat-nap in the car.
  • DD only takes a second nap maybe twice a week. I do think the heat and humidity could have something to do with it though. How long is the first nap?

Her first nap can be as short as one hour and as long as three.  Usually it's around 1 1/2 hours.

About 4 hours. Gets up at 6 am. Naps at 10 am. Up until 3pm then naps again. Down for the night between 7-8 pm.
