I have a patient (who is very nice, very clean person, etc.) who has offered to give me a couple of baby items for free. She has offered me 2 boppies (I would get my own covers), and her Baby Bjorn. The only problem is, her Bjorn is from like 1992, & it had been recalled. The recall was due to the leg openings being too large, and she has the adapter piece that they sent out to correct the problem. So, I don't feel that it's a safety issue, it's just that it's older, it's been used for 3 kids, and I was hoping to get the Ergo carrier. At the same time, I feel bad passing up a free Bjorn & looking a gift horse in the mouth. I also feel like if I took these things from her, that I should still send a Panera gift card or something, because I feel weird just accepting them for free. Is it rude to tell her that someone already purchased the Ergo from our registry (even though no one has)?
Re: WWYD?
No, I think in this case a little white lie is fine.
I would tell her someone already got you the Ergo. I don't think I would even want a brand-new Bjorn...I haven't heard the best things about them (I've just heard that Ergos and Becos are far superior for baby's development).
I would def take the Boppys...you could even stash one at grandma's house!
Definitely tell her you already got the Ergo and you don't need the bjorn, but the boppies will definitely come in handy. Like Natalee said, a little white lie in this case is fine. I wouldn't take it either.
Let us know what happens.
