Maternity tops question

I've been wearing maternity pants for awhile now, but I picked up a couple tops at Motherhood recently. They're cute enough and so comfy, but they're long! They completely cover my butt. I can't remember if they looked more proportional when I tried them on with the belly in the store or not. Will they look better as my belly grows? I have a visible belly now, but it's not so big yet that I can't wear my regular tops; the maternity ones are just so much more comfy.

I'm on the short side (5'4"), so I wonder if the tops will always be long on me.

Re: Maternity tops question

  • I'm taller, so mine only cover about 1/2 my butt, but yea, they are all so long!  SIL is on the shorter side, and can use reg tops as tunics and wears some w/ leggins.

  • you'll grow into them! I am taller (5'9) and now even the "long" shirts don't cover my belly anymore. I had to buy dresses (long ones) or short ones I wear with leggings.
  • Thanks for the reassurance! I'll just have to deal with them looking awkward for a little bit because I get so annoyed wearing regular tops. I don't want anything too close to my belly. ;)

Me too!  I have a bump, yes, but not too obvious... looks like I've just gained weight if you don't know me.  I have some tops that fit, but would be SUPER fitted, which is not too appealing to me.  I've been wearing mat tops for the past wk, but they are too big/loose.  Oh well, I'll grow soon enough.

You will both fit into all of it very soon, trust me. I have 9 weeks to go and the "loose" clothes I bought in the beginning already don't fit and it made me cry this weekend because I put on my bigger maternity pants and I thought I was going to suffocate in them!

  • I just posted a pic of my belly (after three meals) and that's a maternity tee from Target.  I like how it's fitted so I don't mind that it's long, but yes, the tunics from Motherhood are huge. I bought a more formal top for work without trying it on and it's still too big to wear.  I kept it b/c I figured I'd eventually need it, especially, when school starts again in August.
