What is it with sick people who insist upon coming into the office? My company is VERY generous and doesn't count sick time against you - so there's no reason to "save days" in case you're really sick, or in case your kid is sick. You don't have to earn days off, you just get them.
Today, my coworker (who is one of the few who KNOWS that I am pregnant), came over to my cube, sat on my desk, and tried to chat. He kept leaning in to show me pictures of his kids, all the while complaining about how sick he was. I kept backing up and saying "please don't get so close. I really don't want to get sick right now." as politely as I could. He didn't take the hint (and I use the word "hint" loosely, since I was actually flat out telling him to BACK OFF) and I finally just said (fairly rudely, because I was out of patience) "I'm sorry. I really need to get back to work. We'll have to talk another time."
Honestly. What is WITH people? I feel bad for being rude but politely asking him to get lost wasn't working.
Re: sick people need to STAY HOME
That's rude of him to come into your space, especially when he outright tells you he is sick.
I stayed home today because I am sick. And I am so glad to be able to just lounge and relax.
I can almost understand it if you work somewhere that gives you a really hard time about it, or if you're a single parent trying to save sick/vacation time in case your kid is sick, or whatever. But that's emphatically NOT the case here. Our company has a "take what you need" policy, and his wife is a SAHM.
Ugh, at the very least, if you MUST come to work sick, keep to yourself. Don't sick your sick self ON my desk and lean in ever closer while I am asking you to back the heck off.
I'm feeling really ranty today...
