Bouncer - Fisher Price or Bright Start?

We ended up getting 2 bouncers at our shower.  One is a Fisher Price and the other is by Bright Start.  We plan on returning one of them because we simply don't have the room or the need for both but we aren't quite sure which one to hold on to.  Does anyone have a preference for one or the other?

Re: Bouncer - Fisher Price or Bright Start?

  • I bought the bright starts bouncer and it seems okay but I wish that it reclined. I don't know if that will make a difference or not but I thought I would throw my two cents in.

  • I just bought the bright start at a garage sale. I love it. I think it seems really comfy for baby.
  • My cousin had the Bright Start one for her baby and it ended up falling apart after about 1 month

How does a bouncer that holds a tiny baby fall apart?

  • I have both brands (different patterns though) from DD1 and I like the bright start one because it is wider for when baby comes a little more active and snuggles baby in more. DD hated being strapped in so unless she fell asleep in the seat I wouldnt buckle her in and she could throw her self from side and almost fall out of the FP one. So I would have to sit right next to her in that one always until she fell asleep which kind of makes them pointless since the purpose of these is so you can get some stuff done while baby is entertained!

ETA: you might want both seats actually because I keep one at my parent shouse who would watch DD occasionally and it was great to have for when we go over for dinner or visits or whatever.

This. Seriously. I still have one that is almost 2 years old that has had a lot of rough play now that I have it out again in DD2 nursery. DD1 likes to put her baby dolls in it and bounce them up and down and get in it herseld (which I take her out but still she has done it a couple of times and is way too heavy) and it is still in like-new state!

  • I just bought the Bright Starts one this weekend.  Obviously haven't used it yet but we got it because it seems so comfortable and cozy for LO.  It looks like it is very well made but then again we haven't used it.
  • Wow sorry I have no clue what happened! Anyways, i was going to say I have no experience when them but when i wett to babiserus and messed around with them I noticed the bright stars one didn't seem very sturdy. It could have been the way it was set up since a lot of thier stuff isn't always put together great in the store. I think you should check them out at the store when you go to return one of them.

  • I got the Bright Start as a shower gift, DH put it together for me and it seems to be very good quality... I don't know how LO will like it because he's not here yet but I know that if it was adult sized I could totally take a nap in it!

  • i have a fisher price one i dont know how my baby will like it since baby isnt born yet but its very soft and comfortable fealing, pluss i think the fp one you got is more gender neutral if you have any other kids , by bff also has the fisher price one and it lasted through both her 2 kids and she loved it said it was a life saver
  • I have the fisher price one in a different pattern and I really like it. We had a bouncy seat like the bright starts one in the infant room I worked in and it seemed really small. Only our little babies could fit in it.

That WAS really weird - I felt like I was looking through a flip book!  Got a good giggle out of me this morning, though.  Smile

@OP - for what it's worth, a lot of my girlfriends swear by Fisher Price products.  They say if ever there is a problem, Fisher Price customer service is incredible.  Apparently, the company takes really good care of you; one of my girlfriends said they couldn't fix one of the problems so they sent her a new product entirely.  I LOVE companies that stand behind their products!

  • I just bought the Bright Starts travel swing and was thinking of getting the matching bouncer as well, but when I put the swing together it didn't seem as sturdy as it let on to be. It's adorable with little snails on it, but thats about it, and the recline positions are a biitch to get into place. So based off of what the swing was like I'd probably go with the FP bouncer.
  • DD had the FP bouncer, and we loved it. It's easy to take apart and wash.
