3rd Trimester

please talk me down! re: movement

LO is pretty active at bed time and in the morning. Last night I felt a few flutters but nothing like I am used to. Usually the movement in the morning wakes me up but again, not really feeling the baby like ususal. A flutter here and there. I had a tall glass of cold juice and now I am moving onto my morning tea (fully caffed and sugared) and still nada.

Please tell me I am being silly and that LO is just being lazy or moved into a position I am not feeling as much (I have a low laying anterior placenta) . Logically I know this to be true but the crazy, worrier, mom in me is still needing some outside reassurance!

TIA!

Re: please talk me down! re: movement

  • I am sure things are fine.  Sometimes babies have lazy days.  Or maybe he/she is going through a growth spurt.  My LO has no schedule at all...he just moves when he wants to.  I find that he gets pretty active after I eat something...had you tried eating?

  • Def being lazy...she is running out of space and doesn't feel like moving! LOL She will soon enough Smile No worries!
  • Chances are everything is fine, but if you're really worried about it, maybe it could put your mind at ease to call in to your dr/mw.  Even a trip in for "nothing" can be great for peace of mind.  :-)
  • The advice I have consistently heard is to eat something or drink something cold and then lie down, preferably on your left side, and wait to feel for movement. If you don't feel any call your dr or go to L & D. Most drs and nurses will tell you it is better to come in and check and find nothing is wrong than to ignore a possible problem.

  • Sometimes my LO would have lazy days, but if you lie down for an hour and feel nothing, then call your doc. Remember that your stress hormones pass to the baby, so try to relax. Lay on your left side and just focus, you might have missed subtle movements. Good luck!

I have these same panic attacks about once a week. There was a day last week my baby hardly moved at all. This week, movement is almost constant. My doctor indicated I should feel the baby at least once a day (which is always true). My guess is everything is just fine, but if you're worried too much, definitely give your doctor's office a call and run it past them. That's what they are there for and if they're concerned, they may want you to come in and check it out...which will make you feel better...because I'm sure everything is fine:)
