Am I missing something here? What is the point of having 2 or 3 tickers for the same pregnancy? I've seen a few ladies on here like that and I am just wondering why?

i guess what throws me off about it the most is that you dont see YOUR ticker all the time. its purely for everyone else to know how far along you are. so to have multiple really is just strange.
Agreed. And, the ones I've seen aren't for multiples it was the same EDD for what looked like 1 baby....
One ticker is usually the fruit/veggie, while the other is what baby looks like.
there's one girl around here somewhere who has 3... those two plus a regular timeline one.
it really nothing but ridiculous baby AW-ing.
we're all pg. We don't think you're special because you have 3 tickers.

Agreed. I also agree with the part about the multiple badges. I don't need to know 8 different ways that you are having a girl in September. I got it from the first badge, ticker, text in sig, etc.
I do because I had one (the monkey) then liked the other better because it had text describing what was going on. I'm just too lazy to take the other one off. Please forgive me, oh mighty Overlords of The Bump! :-P

I don't think what you have is a problem, you have a ticker and a due date badge. I don't see anything excessive about that.
I think the ladies are referring to have multiple tickers that all say the same thing i.e. "6 weeks and 3 days pregnant"

I was going to say I think some of the tickers are different, some count down, and some say what's going on that week etc etc but yeah having the exact same ticker a bunch of times doesn't really make sense? I'm not sure why people would do that.

I don't know why people put multiple pictures of the same kid, but I'd never complain. Nor do I see why there are often 3 or 4 pink or blue icons, and a ticker for each child in your home.
I have been wondering the same thing. It just doesn't seem to make any sense to me.
Could someone that has multiple tickers please explain?
Disclaimer: This is not directed specifically towards mchupie...just answering your question.
I'll be glad to explain since I was one of the ones who went overboard when I first joined, but continued to remove them since I got so many comments about my tickers. Well, at least I can speak for myself...can't speak for others.
Upon finding out I was pregnant after always thinking my chances were slim to none because of a condition I have....yes, I am very excited to be pregnant. So, I showed it through my tickers because each one tells something different. If I still had all of my tickers one would show that today, since I'm 12w0d, my baby is the size of a plum and tells the development of my fetus, etc...
The point is that it was all out of excitement. Yes, everyone on this site is pregnant, TTGP, or already have children and no, I don't think multiple tickers make me special even though this is my 1st pregnancy. I'm just thankful for my little miracle growing inside of me, so for future reference ladies, don't overcomplicate things that are actually very simple...
Different people, different personalites, different opinions, different tastes...
Some people are simple, some are dramatic, some introverts, extroverts, eccentric, etc. I was just excited and I come to this site to share my joy, gain knowledge, and talk to people who understands what I'm going through. Simply put.
Sorry to have annoyed so many of you to the point that there's a board discussion about it...
Anywho, have a wonderful & blessed day and GL to you all on your pregnancies!

This! It drives me nuts when someone has 3 lines of badges...really!? you need 8 badges!?

That's cool. I just know that I'm going to have to scroll down a lot no matter who posted because there are always a lot of things on most signatures, whether there are pics, tickers, or explanations of TTTC.
I guess I just ignore the ones that seem excessive. I'm usually more interested in what people had to say about the topic.
I don't know why people put multiple pictures of the same kid, but I'd never complain. Nor do I see why there are often 3 or 4 pink or blue icons, and a ticker for each child in your home.
Same kind of thing I guess.
Nope. Not the same at all. Pick one.

I will pick one when you decide if it's more important for us to know that you have a kid that's 10 months and 2 week old... or if you want me to care that you have been breastfeeding for 9 months, 2 weeks, 3 days (Reeally... is this important???), or if you want me to know that you are 7 weeks and 2 days pregnant. Not to mention a frame sized photo.
For folks saying they like the different info they get from multiple tickers for the same baby - can't you get that info somewhere else where only you can read it? Baby Center and Baby Zone send out really good emails once a week talking about embryonic and fetal development. You really shoudn't need 3 tickers to get that info.
And really, did someone just say I don't want to see pictures of your kid???

First of all, I have two tickers, not three. Both will remain, because it's the way I like it.
Second, you have a ticker, and a January baby thing. Is that necessary? Can't you combine them or circle a date on your calendar, so that only you have to see it? Do you see how rude that sounds?? I would never dream of telling someone that. Why are there tickers about children that are already born, and then prenatal tickers? Again, do you see me complaining? No.
Just scroll down, let people show their excitement anyway they choose.
I don't tell people that I don't really care about their husbands sperm count, or their thyroid test, or when they got this test or that.
But I'm NEVER rude about it. I just added a new tagline right above my tickers for people that don't like it, but I won't be asking any of you to change your sigs.
Why are there tickers about children that are already born, and then prenatal tickers? Again, do you see me complaining? No.
Because most of us with already born children are on other Bump boards that pertain specifically to those children. So when I'm asking a question on 12-24 about talking or sleeping or something relevant to my toddler, it's important for people to be able to see the age of the child I'm referencing. But if I had multiple tickers for my 19 month old, and also multiple for my pregnancy, then I agree, that would be redundant.
ETA - I think the original point of this thread was to inquire about the redundancy, not judge people for the length of their siggies. People are not asking for less information, they're just wondering why some people are sharing the exact same information, multiple times.
I don't know why people put multiple pictures of the same kid, but I'd never complain. Nor do I see why there are often 3 or 4 pink or blue icons, and a ticker for each child in your home.

Your sig takes up the full screen.
Well, seeing as I'm also on the 6-12 month board, it is important for me to have a ticker that tells that I have a 10 month old. Also, I'm on the AP board, so it is important to have a breastfeeding ticker. All are for different things. That's the difference.
Thanks though.

This is just my opinion, but it makes me really sad to see some of us on this board arguing about tickers. It's not a big deal. We get on this board to share our excitement and our worries, etc. Not to judge people based on their tickers. We are all hormonal and I get that somethings irritate us to the core. But when we post things about how people with multiple tickers annoy us, those people are bound to see it. Did anyone stop to think that it may hurt their feelings? I'm not trying to be all unicorns and rainbows, but I am beginning to wonder if we have all forgotten what we come to this board to discuss.
I'm 36 years old, was diagnosed with breast cancer at 32, and had treatment then and into 33, and wasn't even sure if I could have a baby again. It sure wasn't fast TTC.
Forgive us "lucky ones" for wanting to share our good fortune.
Do you see my point? Sigs are personal expressions of whatever someone wants to let people know.
You can have 50 tickers. I really don't mind yours. It's just the point.
It's a simple scroll... :-) Everyone be happy. This should be a happy time!
Again, I don't think anyone's complaining about the overall amount of information you are sharing in your siggy. Nobody has a problem with personal expression (I hope!) If you have a ticker for each kid, each pregnancy, and each significant
milestone in your life, then great... that's useful info that tells us more about you. Thank you for sharing. I love knowing more about people, especially when it's inspirational in some way (ie, breastfeeding or adoption or a TTTC journey)
We are just curious as to why some people have REDUNDANT siggies... in other words, 2+ tickers expressing the exact same thing. That's all. No big deal. Just wondering if there's some reason behind it that we're all missing.
I consider multiple tickers/badges, large size pictures or other annoying blinkies to be nothing but an early douchebag warning system. If you take yourself too seriously to think I'm interested in the exact # of days since your last poo, then obviously I don't need to take you too seriously.
My rule of thumb is if I can't read your post and see the bottom of your siggy then one or the other is too long.
Little Man (4 years old---holy cow) He's the single greatest thing I've done in my life and reminds me daily of how fun (and funny) life can be. He's turned out pretty swell for having such a heartless and evil mother.
Lol, I just realized, I 'technically' have 2 as well, but I'm talking about the ones that say the exact same thing. My 2 state different things!! Lol...

Your sons are 16 and 10 , which means you would have nothing in common with anyone else on the other boards. That is why you do not have a ticker for them and we do for our younger children. Get over it!

No. I do not need tickers for my older children. I also don't plan to have one after the baby is born. What's the point. Anyone I need to know my child's age, will know it already.
I will continue to proudly display my two tickers, and if you don't like it... tough. I don't have to get over anything. However... if you had the sense of a billygoat, you'd know I've already been through most of the things on the other boards, so I have just as much input as anyone else. I simply choose not to crowd a board about raising a child. I did it without the help of a forum or a book. You SHOULD be able to do the same. What did all of the parents do without the Bump??
Well, have fun with your cranky miserable life, that you have to complain about what tickers I have, or anyone else has.
What would help is a button saying "display signature" that you can check or uncheck... maybe leave it on as a default, and if it's multiple posts in a thread, you can turn it off. However, I like it on so when I look for my last post I can spot it easier scrolling quickly.
And if you'll notice, you were able to tell quite easily the ages of my children without some lilypie ticker. That's just fine for me. When my baby is born, I will be ticker free.

This is what I always think, are they having mutliples? Or is it a sign of good luck or something. I'm glad I am not the only one that doesn't get it.
So then that would explain anyone with 6000 stating-the-obvious blinkies too, right? I'm learning so much this morning!

As a person with two tickers, my reason is each of mine have different info.
I really like the one that shows the womb pictures, but that doesn't tell developmental info. If they combined the two, I'd only have one.
