Hawaii Babies

confession

Last night I asked Ben to watch the babies while they were fussing so I could go to the bathroom. Then I stayed in there for ages. I didn't even have to go...I just wanted a break from the crying. I'm a bad wife! Embarrassed

Re: confession

  • Lisa you are so not a bad wife! You have two babies which is more work than I could ever imagine! Take a breather, and don't feel bad. It will keep you sane.

LOL!  I've done the same. And I only have one fussy baby, not two!

Sometimes I'll take a shower and stay in there until all of the hot water runs out.  I put on the exhaust fan and stay in as long as possible.  The fan and the water drown out Libby's crying (and mine, if need be).  I used to feel bad about it but don't anymore.

We all need a break every once in a while.  And, when I started to do the long shower thing it helped (or should I say forced?) J to figure out how to soothe Libby himself.  He's become quite good at it, actually.

And where is it written that moms are the only ones who can deal with fussy babies anyway?  Think of it this way....you're not being a bad wife...he's being a great dad!

    Haha! I like this! Yes

I've done the shower thing too - I get my shower every day when Ben comes home from work (I swear some days I'm counting down the minutes until his car rolls up the driveway), and half the time I'll stand in there for as long as possible!

  • Ha!  Instead of just taking a long bathroom break, you should have taken a bath while you were in there.  By the time he noticed the water running you would have already been in the tub! ;)
  • I do the same, you are not a bad mom, I think all moms need breaks, however small they might be, to be their best.

Right after I had Jack I had to do 30 min. sitz bath soaks (MW's orders!!).  I swear, not only did they make my bottom feel better I was mentally refreshed.  I took in a (non BR book) and just used the time to unwind.

We got into a habit, DH would come home and I would use that 30+ mins to putter around - go to the bathroom, take a shower, pluck my eyebrows, sit in there and read TN, whatever.

Use that solitude while you can.  My friend with a toddler age baby says not even her bathroom time is peaceful anymore, it's always "mom, are you in there?  mom, can I come in, etc"
