OB Recommendations in the city?

Hi everyone,

I know others have posted similar requests here but I am looking for a new OB GYN - I am in my second tri-mester due to deliver in late October and am finding a lot of delivery schedules are full and will not take me as a new patient.

Based on some of the feedback on these boards, I contacted the Women's Group of Northwestern (delivery schedule is full) and Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation (pending approval but not looking too optimistic).

Any other suggestions/recommendations would be appreciated - we live in Lakeview.  TIA!

  • I cannot say enough good things about The Women's Practice. They are located at 737 N Michigan Ave (#950). They are in the Neiman Marcus building.   312-751-7515

Dr. Elizabeth Buscher has been wonderful. I have seen all of the doctors....Dr. Norlin delivered my daughter. I am moving out of state, and I hate to leave the practice! I highly recommend. They are great.

  • Progressive Care for Women 312-573-3700.  They are located at 676 N. St. Clair and deliver at Prentice.  I think its www.pc4w.com but if you google you'll see it. I love Dr. Hakimian and have been very pleased with the other docs in the practice as well.

  • I am really picky and shopped around doctors....tried Women's Group of NW and the Women's Practice based on positive reviews...I had really negative experiences with them both.  I looked into NW Physician's Group but decided it wasn't the right fit. I found Lakeshore OBGYN and can't tell you what a relief it was to find them.  Dr. Barton is fantastic, as well as the other doctors, and the practice is extremely well-run and personal. I was already 10 weeks by the time I called and they got me on the schedule right away. If you want to get a feel for the practice, give them a call and the nurse practitioner will call you back and answer all your questions.  Good luck!

I'm at the Northwestern Women's Group and due in August. If I had more umph, I'd probably switch if I could. I haven't been so happy with my main OB or others in the group. There are a bunch of other little things that have annoyed me. I've heard good things about the other practice in the same building affiliated with Northwestern as well as the Northwestern Faculty Foundation OB group (don't have the exact name, but different building). It is so confusing re: how many OB practices Northwester has under their belt...

  • I second Dr. Hakimian at Progressive Care for Women.  Been a long-term pt at that practice.  They have helped me thru many miscarriages and a successful preg.

i would never in a million years recommend Lakeshore OBGYN.  while some of the doctors are great, there is one who is a real  (fill in the blank).  i would not want to risk getting her as my delivery doctor.

(watch how any provider treats the staff.  you will learn their "true personality".)

  • I am also due in October and I go to Advocate OB-GYN FACULTY PRACTICE group at Halsted and Wellington in Lakeview.  All the doctors I have met so far have been good, but the especially great ones are Dr. Stephanie Heraty and Dr. Melissa Dennis.  Sadly, I am moving to the Naperville area in a few months and will have to change doctors!  I highly recommend their group.  Phone is 773.296.3300.  Good luck!
