CD ?? How long until.....

clothing diapering feels like second nature?  We are doing a trial now to see if we want to CD full time and it is so overwhelming since its so new.  I am worried we waited too long and now disposables are all we know how to deal with.  I love routine and since I don't have one its really hard for me.  Anyone have any input??  Thanks!!

    I'd say a month or two?  When we go somewhere where we can't or don't choose to DC (like camping this weekend) and I do enjoy the ease of just tossing them, but I find myself feeling guilty doing it.  Also, it bugged me this weekend when LO wet just a tiny bit in his diaper.  He's PTing, and doing pretty well, so it happened a lot (meaning that if it was wet, it'd just be a few drops).  I don't like putting a wet diaper back on him, but it felt so wasteful tossing it!  With cloth, that's not an issue...I mean, it just gets washed and I can use it again!

    The longer you do it, the more you'll feel like it's the only way to go.  I think now is the perfect time to get used to it, because by the time #2 is here, you'll be at ease with it.

    I've been doing it three weeks and it took us about two weeks to really get the hang of it and get our system down. We had to try a few different things with storage, line drying, and nights before we really got it down. I agree with PP that if you start now, you'll be fine by the time #2 is here. That is why we went ahead and started now with DD.

    Once we found the right diaper it got a lot easier. At first I was using prefolds/bio inserts with wraps. I liked them but I always felt overwhelmed because if DD pooped it went everywhere. Ialso didn't like the bulk of the prefolds on my DD. Once I switched to pockets it was so easy. They felt/feel like disposable in use. That's what I was used to since we didn't switch to CD until DD was 9 mo. I now love my pockets/CDs. It only took me a few days to get into CDing once I found out that the pockets worked best for us.
