TTC After a Loss

ugh... when will i ovulate!?!?!?

it's my first cycle pp.  AF visited on may 8th and i thought i was going to ovulate this weekend, but my temp hasn't gone up and all OPKs are negative.  i used to have a normal 28 cycle.  since i haven't ovulated yet, does this mean my cycle is going to be longer than 28 days?

  • I don't know hunny. You might not at all. It might take more time for your cycles to get *normal* again

I hope your egg shows soon.

  • i've been wondering that too...even though it's only been 2 weeks since my loss.  kind of bites that everyone is different...no way to no for sure...guess we'll just have to wait and see...

what's the cause of not O'ing?  my doctor never told me about this.  is it common to not O after a pregnancy loss?

I used to have 31-34 days cycles.  My first cycle after the miscarriage I did not O unitl CD47 and my cycle was 60 days longs.  It might just take a while for your body to get back to "normal".

  • The first cycle post miscarriage and even a few cycles following can be very different from what used to be normal.

Were you charting before you got pg?  You might still have 28 day cycles, but ovulate a few days later and have a shorter luteal phase.

Also, the stress from the miscarriage could be causing your body to delay ovulation.  I don't know, but there could be other circumstances that are causing your body to delay ovulation.

You might also have an anovulatory cycle.  This is not atypical after a miscarriage.

I'm sure that if you are charting, checking CM, and using OPKs you'll find out when you ovulate soon enough.

i didn't not chart prior to my pregnancy, but i was a 28 day girl.  do you think this is something i should call my doctor about or just wait it out?

  • I'd say wait it out for now.  If AF last came on May 8, you're only on CD15 now.  Like I said, you could still have a 28 day cycle with ovulation in the next couple of day and still be "normal".

  • The cycle that I got pregnant in was the first that I used an ovulation predictor, after 6 months of trying, and that month I ovulated in the beginning of the last week of my normal 28 day cycle (so in your case, with stating on May 8, I would have ovualted on May 29). I can't say if this was happening in all of my cycles before that, because I wasn't charting or doing anything before then.  I assume that I do just ovulate later than normal since I wasn't getting pregnant just trying during the "normal" time I should have been ovulating with a 28 day cycle, and then when I used the ovulation predictor strips for the first time I pinpointed my ovulation time and I got pregnant that month.

So, don't let go of hope that you could still ovulate this month.  Good luck!
