3rd Trimester

Question From 2nd Tri

This is my first pregnancy and I have a question about maternity clothes.  I am now wearing maternity shirts for the most part, but I am still wearing my Bella Band for most of my pants/skirts.  My question is: Is it possible to wear a Bella Band through your entire pregnancy or does your bump get too big?  I realize that everyone is different, but I'm just wondering if it's possible.

Re: Question From 2nd Tri

  • I'm almost 36 weeks and I'm still able to wear a good size portion of my pre-pg jeans and stuff still :) there's hope! (with everything unbuttoned of course.. - i gave up on the bella band a while ago..)

  • For me, I was in full maternity pants before 25 wks so there is no way I could have.  But if you are still in it at 25 wks then maybe.

    Edit:  I'm carrying really low.

    DD1 born 5/24/10.

    Missed M/C at 14 wks Feb 2012.

    DD2 born 5/14/13.

    Missed M/C at 9 wks July 2015.

    Expecting someone new 4/17/17.
  • It wasn't possible for me with both pregnancies because my hips expanded so much. Plus, I gained weight in my legs too... so I needed bigger pants all together! Some women could probably use a Bella Band the entire time, though. It probably just depends on your body type.
  • a friend of mine is 32 weeks today actually. and she still wears her jeans and a band.

believe it or not another friend of mine wore her jeans throughout her whole pregnancy. they were VERY tight, and almost looked hoochi momma tho. but in her case she was just to lazy to buy some. haha.

My Bella Band got too small for me around 20 weeks, so I gave it up all the way.

  • I was able to wear mine for awhile, but eventually I got to the point where I couldnt zip the zipper on my pants anymore and the band just isnt as effective! I still refuse to buy maternity clothes though, i have just been buying a lot of dresses!

this all the way.  i gain in my hips and legs BAD, then towards the end i swell.  YAY!!

  • I have maternity jeans but there is a pair of pre-pregnancy jeans I wear with my belly band. It's not that comfortable, TBH, but if it's a quick errand they work.
  • I could probably still wear my bella band right now if i wanted to, HOWEVER... maternity pants are SO much more comfortable because they let you breathe a little more than the bella band does.  Once I tried on a pair of maternity pants and realized this, I never went back to my bella band lol.

  • I did not have a bella band and I was in my regular pants up until about 27- 28 weeks and then I just popped and there was no way to fit into them....I am also carrying really low though so I think it may be possible especially if you are carrying higher but I don't know how comfortable it will be.

Yep, this. There's no way to tell where you will gain your weight. You gain more weight at the end too, so there's really no way to tell what will still fit.

  • I would say it was about 28 weeks when I stopped wearing mine.  I was still wearing my work suits, etc., with a bella band until then.  Now I still *could* wear them, but it's just a PITA.  My bump is really low, so I cannot zip my pants at ALL.  So...  I'm totally relying on the bella band to keep my pants up and if that starts riding up (which it often does), then I'm left hustling my a$$ 3/4 of a mile to the commuter rail holding my pants up.  Not fun.

I completely agree -- I was small/not showing much forever, and I still thought that maternity pants were the way to go.  I hated having to constantly adjust the bella band every time I went to the bathroom.  (Which, as you know, is a lot!)

  • For me, no way - My butt and hips got bigger!  And my jeans were fairly fitted to begin with.  I was wearing maternity pants by....I dunno, somewhere in the late teens weeks.

  • I can barely pull my pre-preg jeans over my butt and I have only gained 20 pounds (apparently all in my butt :) so no, I definately need maternity shorts/jeans.

  • I still wear it with dress pants to work. With jeans the zippers dig in a little much, otherwise I could wear those too (as far as legs and butt goes).  However, I have one pair of maternity jeans (i got a motherhood small and they are way too big) but they work and my SIL gave me a pair of khaki capris with the full panel which I swore I wouldn't wear..yeah, put them on this week and so comfy! :-) If you are comfy you might be ok, but I def enjoy my few mat pants.  Other than that it is dresses and stretchy skirts for me.

  • When I was preg with DD, I wore my regular pants (buttoned even!) for my entire pregnancy. DS is not going to let that happen this time around.

  • I wore my bella band all through my pregnancy. However, I did not wear it with normal clothes. It gave me extra support and my back would hurt without it so I kept it on. I also felt my skin wasn't so pulled when I had it on. Sadly, I weighed more and carried bigger all around with my first so its totally stretched out and I never could wear it with this guy...ugh my back is aching!
  • I can't fit into any of my old pants but I still wear the bella bands everyday. ?I butter up my belly so much that I like to wear the band to keep my shirts from getting greasy.?

  • I'm almost 37 weeks and I am still wearing my pre-preg jeans, unbuttoned with a hair tie and a band
  • I am still able to fit into my pre-pregnancy pants with a bella band and hope to do so until the end of my pregnancy, it is definitely possible but just depends on how much she gains and where.
