One of my friends went into pre term labor and gave birth to her little girl on May 20th at only 28 weeks. They tried to give her meds to stop the contractions but soon realized that the amniotic fluid around the baby was slowly leaking so they only bought her a couple extra days. She was 1lb 12 oz when she was born. So far she is doing ok but the Drs say she has a long road ahead of her before she is out of the woods! I would really appreciate any prayers and positive thoughts you ladies could spare!

I work in a childrens hospital with a level 3 NICU (most critical) we have many babies that are born at 22 weeks that weigh no more than a lb. These little ones can and often do make it, we get kids that come in for their follow up appts and I see their name and realize they were in our NICU for months and now look at them!

It's true, it is not optimal to be born that small, but at least she made it to 28 weeks, and LO that small can and do have wonderful healthy lives. Many T&P for your friend!! *hugs*
