DH and I cannot find a girl name that we both like, let alone a middle name for a girl...any suggestions?? We have our boy name picked out Maxwell James and that was super easy b/c it was my grandpa's middle name and his grandpa's first name. I know we have lots of time to still try to find one but I am worried we will never find one we like!
Re: Girl Names
We picked our boy name--William Charles--the same way: it's our grandfathers' first names.
We agreed on the first name for a girl--Charlotte--but are having a hard time for a middle name. We picked some family names and made a baby name poll to help us decide what sounds good.
One of my friends gave us a suggestion of looking at names of ppl in your family and looking for names with similar meanings or sound as a jumping off point.
Here are the girl names that I love and DH already vetoed when I was pregnant in January...
Ella
Amelia
Hailey
Delaney
Savannah
Scarlet
I am still pushing for Scarlet or Savannah!!
I want to use the name James as a middle name for a boy or a girl since it is my dad's name. DH isn't feeling it.
We name our DD Katherine and call her Katie.
Our top choices for a girl name are Madelyn or Abigail.
It did take us awhile on our first pregnancy to decide on a girl name. We were probably in the 5 or 6 month before we made our decision. If you are finding out the gender, I wouldn't worry about it until after you know the sex. You many not need to think of a girl name.
Katie: 1/16/08 2lbs. 15oz.
Abby & Emily: 12/31/10 6lbs. 2oz. & 5lbs. 7oz.
danamh83: Thanks for the suggestion of looking at the names of the ladies in our families, I never thought to look at the meaning of their names to come up with ours!
KeriMac: I have not thought of the name Ella, I kind of like that...I will have to run it by DH!
IAM4UK: I am not sure if we are going to find out the gender, I don't want to but DH does...so I want to have names ready for a little boy and a little girl just incase I get my way
We went through girl names for forever! We had picked out Carolina Ranai- I love the name Caroline but wanted it a little different, and the fact that we will probably never live in SC again, it was a neat tribute to where she would be born. But then DH didn't like it so we came up with Scarlett Ranai. Scarlett still gives tribute to her southern birth place. Ranai is the name of my aunt who I really look up to.
I kept a Word document of the names we liked and which ones we agreed on
Both our middle names are set, but I have a feeling we're going to get into a few fistfights over the first names. I'd really like Gabriel for a boy, but H just kinda looked at me. Charlotte is my first choice for a girl, and I also really like Violet.
If we have a girl she will be Catherine Amelia and call her Kate.
If you are looking for inspiration try the Baby Names board. Nameberry.com is another favorite of mine. Good luck! We had the hardest time with girl names!
