PSA: coming ban on drop-side cribs

Just saw this article and thought it might be of interest, especially if you haven't bought a crib yet or are going to be registering for one later in the year. By the end of this year it will be illegal to sell drop-side cribs and/or use them in hotels, day care, etc.

    I wish I didn't have THREE of them but can't afford all new ones now! I wish they would just all get recalled!

    That's really too bad.  I love my drop side and the one at my parents house and I am a firm believer that if they are put together properly and they are inspected regularly (both things we do with all of our baby equipment) there is very little actual risk associated with them.

    I 100% agree with you. I love mine. its a babi italia and its held up beautifully. You wouldn't know it was ever used. It also doesn't remotely have issues with the fact that its a drop side. I don't even see how ours could accidentally drop from the way it was designed. It also saved my back from too much bending as DD grew. I trust it more than the convertible we bought.

    the nicer ones with the metal hardware are way safer than the ones with plastic hardware.  I have a bratt decor crib that I'm not using for my twins because I'm paranoid, but I'm sure it would have been fine.  I wish mine would get recalled too, because we only used it for about a year!

    Oh I know!!  I have the sleigh crib from PBK and the Larkin.  I would love another Larkin.  Fingers crossed!!
