Raffle ticket, for a house!

I am going to try to convince DH to let us buy a raffle ticket.

Its for St Jude and they are only doing 7000

Winner gets a 500K (which in OK is alot) house paid for

Its 3500 sq ft, 4+ beds, 3 baths with all the extras. Its amazing, in the most amazing neighborhood.

Tickets are $100.

We dont play lotteries and we dont gamble, but I cant imagine what it would be like not to have a mortgage payment and have a HUGE house like that completely paid for. It would be life changing for sure...

Sigh, I totally should get 1 ticket huh?

Re: Raffle ticket, for a house!

  • I'm trying to talk my hubby into buying a raffle for our local version of this.  Although, someone pointed out to me that you might check what taxes, etc. will be for that house.  It may be more expensive than your current rent/mortgage. <shrug>

  • I'm not a gambler/raffle ticket buyer at all, but for a good cause, and not-so-bad odds, I would do it!  :-)

  • Just make sure you can afford the taxes if you do win.  I watched a lottery show once where a woman bought a lotto ticket for a house; won and her family practically went bankrupt bc they couldn't sell it and couldn't afford to keep it.

We do it every year for Big Brothers/Big Sisters in our area.  Tickets are the same price, but the house is worth much less.  DH's uncle won one year.

It's for a great cause.  Do it.
