I don't know if you guys remember my friend who was POAS since a week after her period, well she got her BFP 2 weeks after mine and is due 2 weeks after me. I made the mistake of sharing my fave names with her last night after she asked. One that I've had picked out since I was 7 or 8 is Alexander. Later last night, she texted me and said the only boy name her and her DH can agree on is Alexander and she called it a dilemma!!! Ummm what?! It's my great-grandfather's name and all my boy babydolls had the name Alexander when I was little, I've always known I would have a little boy named Alexander (assuming I have a boy). How dare she?! Now I know I won't be sharing my name choices with anyone except you lovely ladies and my DH.

Re: Learned my lesson
I would not be very happy with her either. With that said you can both use the same name. If you're set on that name then go with it. If she choses to use the same name then that's her choice.

sorry. that is why i never tell my most favorite names on my list b/c i'm afraid someone else will want it too.
you should just text her back and say well i guess we'll both have the same baby boy names if it's a boy. i guarantee they'd find another boy name.
That sounds like a perfectly reasonable response.
I am in the monirity here, but I don't know why people get so bent out of shape over names. Thousands of people have the same names. In school kids in the same class have the same name.
Yes, it's your friend, but who cares. Your boys will just have the same name. You have different families and probably different sets of friends. The only time it will be an issue is when you to are together.
My friend and I both named are daughters Katherine, but she spelled her differently. Mine goes by Katie and hers goes by Kate. It's a non issue. I had sentimental reasons for naming our daughter that. I wasn't going to change my mind because one of my friends said she was going to use it.
I know I am in the minority here and hope not to offend you, but no one has claim on a name.
Katie: 1/16/08 2lbs. 15oz.
Abby & Emily: 12/31/10 6lbs. 2oz. & 5lbs. 7oz.
I 100% agree with you. If you both want to name him Alexander, then go for it. As long as she doesn't also give him the same middle name, then that would just be creepy. But there are thousands of Alexanders in the world (I know 2 off the top of my head) and you really can't get hellbent over this one even if she is your friend. And who knows, maybe in 8 months she will change her mind and decide to name him after her DH or whoever. Then you would have lost a friend for nothing unless you just generally don't like her, and if that's the case, then who cares what she names her kid?
