Questions from Newbie still trying to get this :)

Hi guys,

Still trying to get to know more about charting and the big bummer is that my trial period at ff ended today. I have a couple questions, I hope you do not find too stupid. First how can you tell by temps that you O'd? Is there always a big dip, a big temp rise? Do crosshairs indicate that is the day that you O'd? Also with not having VIP membership to ff will it still give me crosshairs if I'm suppose to or not?

Did you take the tutorials they offered? You really should if you haven't or read TCOYF.. You can tell by your temps that you O'd usually when there has been a sustained increase of 3 or more temps.. Your temp goes up after O'ing. It gives you the crosshairs to say you've O'd. And without VIP, it will still work.

Once you temp for a couple months you'll be able to see a clear thermal shift. Your temps don't have to be perfect, but you should be able to see a bi-phasic pattern (meaning that for the first half of the month they are consistently lower than the second half of the month).

Your chart will only confirm ovulation AFTER it happens with the crosshairs. Yes, they will be placed on the day that FF predicts that you ovulated. It will usually be right, though there could be a small margin of error, but don't worry about that.

There are things that happen leading up to ovulation that predict that it is about to happen, but it isn't fool proof. After a few cycles of charting, you will start to see a pattern with your fertile CM, and if you choose to use them, OPKs.

I have only ever had VIP so someone else will need to answer that for you.

If you haven't already, take some of the free tutorials FF offers. They will be able to answer alot of your questions.

The free membership offered by FF is fine it will still detect O for you.

You will be able to see ovulation by a temp shift (rise). A temp drop does not mean anything. FF will give you CH's once you have 3 days of temp rises. It is also important to track your CM everyday. FF uses that information when determining your O date.

I just got my TCOYF! Thanks so much I thought it was a temp rise but could not clearly remember.
