Rolling Over/ Waking Up

LO was a great sleeper.  I'll repeat, WAS a great sleeper. A week ago he started to wake up more during the night and now that he has learned to roll over both ways he wakes up even more often!  He rolls himself onto his tummy and wakes up so frustrated.  he knows how to roll back to his back but he is just so wide awake from his frustration that he won't fall back asleep unless dh and i rock him. ugh!  we are so sleep deprived.  it's like newborn again.  anyone else experience this?  what did you do?

Re: Rolling Over/ Waking Up

  • Teach them to sleep on their stomach.  DS is the same way.  He can roll both ways and does during the day, but at night he forgets or is too awake or whatever.  I finally started putting him down on his tummy and tucking him in that way last night.  Seemed to work for the first half of the night once I got him to sleep and he slept until 3ish, but then he was up every hour again.  Still, it's a start.

  • DS rolled over for the first time the other night and it was in his sleep. Woke himself up. Last night was horrible, but had nothing to do with rolling over. I am just agreeing with you that I feel like we are in newborn stage all over again! ;)

Luke did this and after going in there and turning him back over like 4X one night, we decided to CIO.  I'm not suggested Ferberizing for rolling over but once he realized we weren't coming in there he learned to turn himself back over and eventually to sleep in both positions.  But, now that I think of it, he was probably 6mos.
  • Dealing with this now... DS started this 3 weeks ago.  We were so excited for the early development but this is such a PITA

This- I'm more exhausted now that I was at the newborn stage because I work so can't take naps now. UGH.
