A little bit worried..

So because of the obsessive nervous person I am, even though I go my BFP 4 days ago, I have kept testing to make sure the line is getting darker each time, since the line was so faint. Well it did appear to be getting darker with each test (and the doctor's test confirmed everything), until today I took another Answer HPT (which are the ones I have been using) with FMU, and got a da** near BFN, I mean there is a faint faint faint line, but it is even fainter than the one I got when I took the first test. Like you have to hold it up to the light. I am extremely nervous that this is going to be another loss. Because if this pregnancy was going normal the lines should be getting darker, and deff not disappear. T&P ladies. I need it! I am deff not prepared to go through another loss right now.

  • This is my first pregnancy, but I had a very similar experience as you.  I first tested positive on a digital around 5 weeks.  I was very surprised that a few days later when I needed more affirmation, that my dye tests only producted a SUPER faint line, even close to 6 weeks pregnant.  I freaked out, posted on this board, and received quite a bit of advice that this was normal.  It was closer to 6.5 weeks, before an immediate, strong line appeared.

Try not to worry, but I know that is nearly impossible.  May you have a healthy & happy baby!

  • I'm confused. You've already taken several HPT's and they've come back positive. Your doctor also confirmed it. Why are you still testing?

You're going to drive yourself nuts.

Thanks I hope you are right, but I am so nervous with it being the same brand and all. BTW I think we might have the same first name based off of your screen name. lol

Because the doctor is not testing my Betas this time yet, she has me on prometrium and will start doing the every 2 day beta testing next week, and I have had 3 previous losses, and all my positives were very very faint and i was hoping the line would get darker so i can know the HCG is building up appropriately. It comes out of being nervous that I will have another loss.

  • The exact same thing happened to me so try not to worry.  I know you're stressed, but the best thing you can do for yourself is step away from the pee sticks and (try to) relax.  Here is what I told myself: It's out of your hands at this point, and continuing to test doesn't make any difference - relax!

  • BFP's are scary when your journey includes so many losses. I just keep trying to tell myself that staying calm is best for me and the baby. GL to you.

Have you asked your doctor to check your betas? If it makes you feel more comfortable they should oblige.

  • I hope it all turns out ok... that happened to me.  I tested for a week with super faint lines.  Had betas done a couple days later with over 1,000.  So somethings I think the tests are just flawed.

  • A line is a line and sometimes the tests only have a certain amount of dye.  I wouldn't worry.

  • Try to to stress too much. The dye can be inconsistent, which can be frustrating when you want to see a dark fat line. Thoughts and prayers this is your take home baby.

I found when I tested the blue lined tests showed up ok, but the pink line tests were very very faint (like thought they were negative faint) when I was 4 weeks. My DH and I fianlly opted to do a digital one just to be sure.

  • HPTs are not quantitative measurements, they're qualitative.  Which means, you will not always see the line getting darker.  You'll drive yourself crazy with the HPTs, since they're not really able to tell you anything other than that you are, in fact, pregnant.
