I have a girlie question for you since you're all smart and stuff....
Now that I know what a cervix actually looks like (thanks to beautiful cervix dot com), I was wondering what a doctor does during a annual exam. Do they go inside that little hole or just swab outside of it? I had to ask since I just had my exam. What is she doing up in my business?!
Re: Tex
are you talking about during a pap smear?
there are diff techniques. the older school way used a wooden paddle thing like the one on the left. that one does NOT go in the os (opening of the cervix). the brush, the one with the blue handle, has those longer bristles in the middle that do go inside. the shorter bristles just go on the outside of the cervix. not sure what the pipe cleaner one is for, i've never used anything that looks like that.
Yes, I was talking about a pap smear. My doc had two things that looked like the blue handle one and the pipe cleaner. She said to me "you're going to feel a little poke" and she has never said that to me before. It was bizarre, that was the first time I've ever felt that poke before.
Thanks for the info and the pic
