Reusable nursing pads?

(posted on EFF board as well)

Anyone use these? If so, any recs, and where is the best place to buy? I am still going to have disposable ones on hand for when I go out, etc., but am going through way too many and need a more cost-effective/environmentally friendly option.

Thanks :)

Re: Reusable nursing pads?

  • Call me Betty Homecky but I made mine.  My mom gave me a sewing machine for Christmas and it came in handy.  The pads are three layers--1 outside layer of fleece and the two layers closest to the nippies are made of old receiving blankets.  When they need washing, I throw them all in a lingerie washing bag.  It works pretty good!!

  • I like the idea of PP saying that she made them. That would be ideal, but I don't have a sewing machine, so I'll have to stick with buying them. I just just the Nuk brand, you can get them from Target.

  • I believe mine are by Gerber.  I bought them at BRU and have had them since D1.  They are a little thicker than the disposable ones so I can't wear them with thin Tshirts. But otherwise I love them.
  • I got two sets of Milkweeds nursing pads from Cottonbabies.  They werent a cheap investment but they work really well and were worth every penny since I haven't had to purchase any disposables.
