Baby Names

Family naming "theme" for boy...but need help for girl.

Disclaimer:

For my dear friend (she knows who she is) who thinks "theme" is a literal term... I'll indicate for the masses, that it's a pattern that was established many many years ago.  Probably unintentionally. His family happens to be very Catholic and the names worked.  *end disclaimer*

Baby is joining a family where all of the sons, including the baby's father and his 3 brothers (there are 4 boys and no daughters) that all have the names of apostles or original saints.

Paul Andrew (father of baby)

John Joseph

Matthew Thomas

James Peter

So, 99.9% sure this baby will be David Paul.

Girl names are the problem.

We like Avery.  (Yes, I know it's considered trendy but the only two people I know with the name are 13 and 17, one boy, and one girl), but we both liked it immediately.  It's stuck on us.

I only have a couple of girl middle names picked out, and if you can think of any others, I'd be willing to hear them.  Not Marie though... that's my name.

Okay, that didn't show the icon.  Try this link.  https://babynames.com/namelist/9714169

  • I know you said you don't want Marie, but I think Avery Marie sounds nice.  Why can't your fn be the babies mn?

Doesn't Avery Marie scream Ave Maria?

  • Gibs... lol.  It does sound a bit like that.

Joan.  I don't really want my name of Marie as a middle name because it seems everyone I know has Marie as a middle name anyway.  But it does sound good.

On a side note, my middle name is Janene.  :-/  I dunno...

The other reason I don't like Avery Marie is they both end in the EE sound...  silly reason, but it sounds too matchy to me.

Check in on the babynames.com link and feel free to keep throwing out suggestions.  I need them.

  • I really like Avery Elizabeth. Avery Jane is cute too.

  • Avery Lynn, perhaps?

  • I'm from Florida... currently South Florida (thankfully), but I spent most of my life in Central Florida (blah), and everyone had the middle name Lynn.

Tammy Lynn, Debbie Lynn, Amy Lynn, Cindy Lynn... it was almost a pre-requisite.  :-)

Thanks, but not my style...  I do appreciate all of the suggestions though!  I'm compiling choices to present this evening.

Thats how Marie is in my neck of the woods. haha

    Hmm ... Avery May

    Avery Hannah

    Avery Lara

    Avery Sarah

just a brainstorming ...  Stick out tongue

  • I personally think that Mary Magdalen was one of the apostles but the male church heirarchy threw her out and tried to damage her image by saying she was the prostitute (she wasn't)

So I like some variant of Magdalena, you could even use Madeleine the French form.

I also really like Veronica which would kind of tie in to the apostle theme.

  • Avery Katherine (Catherine)
  • I really like Avery Michelle.  I saw it on your babynames.com thing, and I think it's a great name combination.  It sounds really feminine.

What about Avery Grace or Avery Faith, that way you're sticking with the religious theme.

Believe it or not... my BF has a Blue Corvette he named Faith.  Yes... he names his cars.  This also evolved because it was originally named Grace.  And it came out Faith one day so that stuck and "she" has been Faith ever since.

  • My Avery is Avery Claire, after my mom (Claire) and I love her name.  If you spell it Clare, it's a saint name.

  • The bible/saint/whatever trend isn't really that important for a girl, seeing how there are no girls in the family anyway.  But, the BF did want to try to stick that way for a boy.

I'm open to whatever for a girl.  I do like some of the suggestions though.  Thank you to everyone.

I like Avery Elizabeth and Avery Catherine.

But just wanted to say that I have a friend who has 3 brothers and all 4 boys were named after saints.
