when do kids move to real chairs at the dinner table?

G still fits in her highchair so that's where currently sits for meals.  I could buy booster seat but I'm wondering if I can just skip the purchase if she'll be moving to a regular chair sooner rather than later.  As long as she still fits in the highchair comfortably I don't need to move her right?  I'm trying to figure out if I need anything with the BRU coupon

  • We have the FP Space Saver high chair, which we converted to a booster at about 20 months or so.  Last night he climbed up where Daddy usually sits and wanted to eat there.  He did ok until the end and tried to start running around the dining room so we put him in the booster. He's too small still to reach the table well without the booster but I know he liked it!

  • I think Charlie used his booster from 18 months - 2 years. Around that time he started refusing to sit in it & has been in a regular chair ever since. He is still a touch short so he'll sit on his knees sometimes.

  • We took Rosie out of the high chair and put her in a booster at 20 months or so.  She's nowhere near tall enough to sit on a chair without a booster, I can't see her sitting normally in a chair for a good while longer.  The Fisher Price Healthy Care booster is great, and only $20, so it's not expensive.
  • Our booster has adjustable height so we started him in it at 14 months. We also have a small'ish round dining room table. Oh and I HATED my highchair (never fabric high chair again) so I was in a hurry to get him out of it!
