As some of you know, we had decided on a fabulous girl name and come last evening, DH decides that it's just "okay" now . . . ugh! So back to the drawing board it is and we've come up with two finalists....
Adelaide Rae
Finley Rae
After doing some digging, I find out that both are becoming more popular and I HATE jumping on any band-wagon. So, give it to me straight...do you like them? Hate them? Not your style?
And because I'm so anal about our names, I will delete them after this afternoon....
Thanks, guys!
Re: DH pulled a switcheroo on our name!
my best friend just named her baby adelaide, so biased as i am, i love it.
finley is cute, but i can't really picture it as a girl's name.
I missed what your fabulous name was, but I like Adelaide - I like adele and addy for short too.
Finley to me sounds all boy.
As for them becoming popular, I don't personally know any kids with these names
I don't like Adelaide at all, it's NMS. But Finley is pretty.
I love them both, but they are getting very popular. That's major struggle for me because I'm a "Stephanie" and I've hated being one of many my whole life.
They are gorgeous however.
This is my siggy. Love it.
DH did the same thing to me last night too! We're pretty much set on Parker for our baby girl and then on 30 Rock we heard the name Avery and DH loved it, but it's like 32 or something on the SSA list while I'm so not a fan of bandwagon names, I like it too.
I think Adelaide is getting really popular but it's nms. Finley is still more unique IMO and I like it the better.
I love Adelaide! I didn't know it was popular, that sucks.
It's my #1 girl name. We would use Sue as a middle name.
Addy Sue.. awwww. DH won't go along with it.
I like Adelaide much much more than Finley.
I really like Adelaide. I think it's adorable.
Love, luck, and prayers to my BFPB Dr. SnowflakeBride
Yep, you read my mind....
Thank you.
VERY cute!!
Thank you.
We're having a tough time deciding....
Both are NMS, but they aren't bad names. I do think Finley sounds more boyish to me. If your heart is set on a name go with it, I think we all pick names we think wont be too popular and then we always find out others thought the same.
My friend had a baby named Owen last year, she picked the name because she thought it was a normal name but not one you heard a lot. Well, she was shocked to hear that in her small town alone there were 20 babies born in 2009 and 3 were named Owen. So he will have 2 others in his class.
I know, right!?!?
He still says it's a "possibility", but I don't want to use a name that he's just "ok" with, kwim??
Good point...
What was your original name?
Maeve Elizabeth
Adelaide- It reminds me of everything -aide. Coolaide, lemonaide, gatoraide, poweraide. It just sounds like another drink to me (I may have mispelled some of those)
Finley- NMS
I like that!
Thanks, babe!! I think you may be right re: going along with Olivia....
Re: Maeve, what's so cool is that it means "Intoxicating"...love that!
I love both.
Adele was a top runner for our girl name. Adelaide I think is just as pretty.
Finley is our boy name.
FWIW - Finley rated something in the 800's for popularity on the Social Security Most Popular names list. So not too popular.
That's cool about the meaning of Maeve, I like that!
Yeah, Olivia Jean and Finley Rae sound like sisters.
Looks like we both have great taste!!
And no, I know it isn't that popular...but it is gaining momentum like our DD's name did after we chose it....hate that.
Is it sappy of me to say that I just teared up at this??
No, I think it's sweet.
My advice is don't pick a name (or discard it) just because it's popuplar BUT also don't do that because it isn't.
If you love the name- go for it, even if it's somewhat popular.
Classic names are coming back in style, and that is what DH and I like. Our fave names (Sophia/Alexander) are #4 for both boys and girls... and you know what? We've loved the names for years (especially Sophia) and too bad.
I think that's a GREAT way to look at it!
I could not imagine my name at 29 being Finley.
