i think jax is a cute nn, but personally i don't like the spelling Jaxon. also i think there are slight pronounciation differences between Jackson and Jaxon.

I'd go with Jackson Cole. It will serve them better as an adult.
If your child wants they can still spell their nickname "Jax", there's no rule against that and I see people use alternative spellings for their nicknames all the time. GL!

As someone who had a temporary lapse in judgment and almost named DS#1 Jaxon, all I can say is don't do it! Spell it Jackson if you are going to use it. Jax is a cute nn, but that is about it. Spelled out, Jaxon just looks dumb.
ETA: I really like the name Cole. Jackson Cole makes me think Jackson Hole, WY. What about Cole Jackson?

This, minus the part about almost naming a child Jaxon b/c never in a million years have I considered doing that or would I.

I think its so funny that people will know what your unborn child will think when he is an adult! I know an adult man name Jaxon and he likes his name. I personally think its a neat twist on a VERY popular name.

I, for one, had never heard of Jackson Hole, WY until this post so it doesn't bother me.
Cole is the name I loved the most, but my hubby only likes it for a middle name, so no Cole Jackson. Plus, with our last name it sounds like a hyphenated (sp) last name.
I am leaning towards Jackson with the nn Jax, because it looks more traditional on paper, and also, we visit my Nana in Jackson, Ca frequently and that's where I originally got the name. Oh and then the hubby can still call him what he wants!

This exactly.

You can still call him Jax for short, and spell it Jackson.
We're considering (very strongly) Jackson for a boy, but nn Jax.
Thank you everyone for your thoughts!!!
