I know it's been asked before, but now that I"m in the midst of it, when did your DC begin to like/use a lovey?
I've had one in the crib with Ethan for a few months now and he hasn't really grown attached to it. Even the blankets in there it's not like he's picked one that he super likes. Emmy loves her lovey but I can't remember when she started liking it.
Are there some kids who never get attached to a lovey?
Re: When did your DC become attached to a lovey? Do some kids never have one?
Watching this thread. Z hasn't been attatched to anything in particular, however, she does ask for a blanket when she is tired. My view on it is that a "lovey" is something there for them during a stressful situation and some kids have other mechanisms to overcome stress, while some use a "lovey."
My mom says that I never had a lovey. Watching to see what suggestions you get.
DD is super super attached to her "bear bear" . She has been really into it since she was just about 1.
DS never had any one thing he was attached to. He also never took a paci or sucked his thumb. I don't know if that has anything to do with it though.
Andrew rejected every.single.thing we gave him until he was 15 months and we had a Sleep Sheep that was supposed to be for Cooper. He loved that thing and took it every for months. Then all of a sudden it just stopped, he wasn't interested anymore. Then a few months later, maybe around 20 months or so he got super attached to this large blue dog and now that thing is his constant companion often going to the store with us.
Cooper on the other hand pretty quickly attached to a blanket that we used in rotation with some others. Around 4-5 months I think I finally realized it had become his lovely when I attempted to put him down for a nap while it was in the wash and had an hour long scream fest. Got the blanket and voila sleeping baby. He not carries that everywhere and will not go to sleep without it for anything. Thank god he lets us wash it because lucky us he picked a cream colored blanket and we have two black labs, the thing gets gross.
K used to like to cuddle her lovey but now it could burn up in a freak forest fire and she'd not even notice.
The only things she's attached to are her paci and my boobs. :P

S was over a year when she got attached to one of her blankets. She cuddles with it when she's tired, but that's about it. It doesn't go shopping with us or anything. Early on I kept introducing loveys and she just wasn't into them. The attachment to this particular blanket came out of nowhere (she loves fleece and it's fleece) - and of course it's a Christmas blanket that she decided she needs year round. It says "Baby's First Christmas." Not the lovey I would have picked...
My nephew on the other hand has a little blue blanket and his pacifier that he needs at all times. Just different needs, I guess.
