So I tested positive in a recent urine sample for Group B Streptococcus. So I will not have the culture done at 37 weeks. I am taking oral ampicillin for five days now and then during labor and delivery I will receive ampicillin through an IV. The main concern is me passing it to LO during birth.
Has anyone else had experience with this? My OB said not to worry since we are aware of it now. But I always scare myself by ?researching? online which I can be dangerous but I like to be informed.
Re: Positive for Group B Streptococcus
My OB and our childbirth class instructor said about 30-40% of normal, healthy adults carry it in their bodies and test positive, and it isn't a big deal at all. It just means some extra antibiotics to keep from passing it to the baby. Don't stress too much about it! I know lots of people that tested positive during the swab test.

I tested positive with DS and with this baby. Antibiotics during labor for DS and will do the same with this baby.
I wonder why you're on antibiotics now though? I've never heard of that.
