Toddler Potty Question

Maia just got potty trained this year. She's been doing well the last month, usually remembers to ask to go and all that. The last few days she's been saying she has to pipi every 15 minutes or so. She goes a little bit then asks again a few minutes later. I'm not sure now if it's because she keeps feeling it or if there might be something wrong. Is it possible she could have a UTI or do you think it's just a training thing? If she doesn't stop soon I'll call the doc, just wondering if anyone else's kid started doing this. She usually holds it about an hour or so, except for the last few days. TIA.

    It sounds like it could be a UTI.  Does she have any other symptoms?

    That does sound odd. How long has she been potty trained for?   Even only holding it an hour is not very long. Zoe goes 3-4 hours usually between peepee's especially in the beginning of the day before her liquids catch up with her. I would call the pedi and just see what they say. Can't hurt to test for a UTI.

    Maybe just give her some cranberry juice a couple times a day.  I don't know what else the pedi would tell you to do even if it is a UTI.

    My niece was having similar symptoms and it was a UTI. She took her to the doctor and I *think* her pedi sent her something for it.

    I would not wait to call the doctor. Since it changed from one day to the next I would definitely assume UTI unless the doc says otherwise.

    Thanks all. I called doc yesterday and they had me bring her in to test. She was fine, the urine was clear. Doc said she might just be sensitive to it right now and it's probably just the getting used to it. She's only been potty trained for a couple of months. Doc did say though that UTI's peak at potty training time cause some kids will hold it excessively so it was a good idea to have her checked. Hope she starts holding it longer again soon cause I feel like I'm in the bathroom all day!
