So the on-ramp from my town to one of the "major" roads (we're in countryville, PA) is really short, and sometimes, you have to stop and wait before merging into traffic. On my way to work this morning, I noticed a fender bender at that spot, and I looked to make sure everyone was OK (because I do stop to see if people need help)... and I realized it was DH with DD in the car!! So I pulled over and before I could jump out of my car, DH jumped into his car and was calling me. So I asked what happened, and he said he knew it was coming because he heard the screeching tires. He said he checked on DD right away, and she was till talking away like nothing ever happened. And he said that the bump was so mild that his seat belt didn't even tighten up. There's no damage to our Jeep, but the guy that hit him drove "under" DH's Jeep- so to speak- and actually busted up the front of his car and has tire marks on his car!!
I am thanking God that both DH and DD are ok, as is the guy who hit them. But this was NOT a good start to the day!!
Re: Oh no a car accident- oh wait, that's DH & DD!!!
I'm glad everything is okay! I would suggest you get your Jeep checked out just in case though. I was rear ended by a mini-van a few months back, and my Dodge Ram appeared to have no damage other than a 2" scratch on the bumper and a pushed in hitch plug. When they took the bumper off to paint it, they found the material underneath was compressed and needed replaced. If I was rear ended a second time, the shock absorption wouldn't have been there.
I am so glad they are ok!
When I was in college I was stopped on the interstate and a guy hit me from behind going 80mph. I went under the semi in front of me. I was airlifted to the hospital because no one could believe I was ok, and the helicoptor pilot said that in his 30 years of doing life flights, mine was the worst accident he had ever seen.
I miraculously walked out of that accident, but my car was destroyed. And it is not lost on me every single day that had I had Allie at the time, she would have died, as would anyone who would have been in the car. I am so freaked out about someone else hitting me now.
Here's my car, just for kicks.
I am pretty sure that you and I have discussed before that we live within minutes of each other.
I can't believe that was your DH and DD in that car. That is so scary. I HATE the merge area right there. It sucks! I am so happy that they are both ok. My goodness.
Were you the person in the blue SUV that pulled over in front of them??
Oh yikes and I am totally not stalking you but I bet it was ont eh on ramp from 30 to 202..that is an horrible on ramp!
I am glad to hear that your DH and DD are a-ok!
Wow... you have some SERIOUS guardian angels watching over you!
DH's car is up for inspection June 1st, so I think we'll just take it in early to make sure the car is alright!!
YUP!! That was ME!!!
Even less of a main road- Rt. 1! lol But 202 in that area can be awfully scary during both AM and PM rush hours!!
You were right behind me then this morning.
It was so strange and I was reading your post because I was like, "Geez that sounds like an accident that I saw this morning."
DH literally left 2 minutes before me this morning, and then I got stuck at the light. If we had left at the same time, it's most likely that the car would've hit me- which would be significantly less scary, knowing that DD was with him!! I hate hate HATE that on-ramp. It's too short!!
O.M.G.
I've never seen an accident that horrific before. Thank goodness you were able to walk away from that!
That ramp is ridiculous. DH and I always talk about how dangerous it is.
I don't know how far up Rt. 1 you travel for work but then there was a bad accident up by Longwood Gardens. Not a good morning.
Again I am so glad that your DD and DH are both ok!
Yup I got stuck in that mess too! I stopped for a coffee at the WaWa in the Longwood area, and when I came out... there was that accident. I ended up cutting down Greenwood Road. That poor person was laid up on the stretcher with a neck brace and all. That did NOT look so good!
Was it just me or was there only one car there? (I saw one car with really bad rear-end damage.)
Does your DD go to daycare?
I only saw 1 car too- something silver that kinda looked like an Altima or something like that!! But it definitely looked "smashed" and there isn't a cement wall right there or anything. And there wasn't anything down GW road, so it's not like another car pulled out of the way there...
DD actually goes to my cousin's house in Glen Mills. Since DH works in West Chester, and I work in Chadds Ford, it's pretty convenient for us. She's actually only about 5 mins from my work!
Yeah...a silver Altima. That was so strange though because the damage was pretty bad so I imagine that whatever hit her had to be damaged too. Interesting!
That's awesome that your DD goes to your cousin's house. We take DD to TGP in Jennersville.
Glad they are ok!! I always worry that I'll see a wreck on TV and it will be someone I know.
We saw a report on the news a few years ago at work for a wreck that ended up burning the truck & driver. A few days laster my coworker found out it had been her father! They never talked on a daily basis and they couldn't identify the body. She had to go through the whole calling of every hospital in the area, etc. So sad and scary.
