baby proofing a pool

Has anyone given any thought to how they will baby proof their pool yet? ?

?I have an in ground pool that is open all year. ?The way my house is set up, every one of the bedrooms has sliding glass doors that open up to the pool area. The pool area is in the lanai, so the windows that open up to that area do not have screens. ?I know this creates a very hazardous layout for a toddler. ?

By the fall/winter, Max will be crawling/cruising/walking and that's when we start leaving the doors/windows open. ?I'm not sure how to go about getting those gates that go into the brick to surround the pool. ?Anybody know? ??

  • I have no advice but I want to come live with you!

We have a pool but it is above ground and we just lock the deck door. Pretty easy.

    Hahah of course!!?
  • I have given this a little bit of thought so far, as we have an in ground pool as well.  I haven't done a ton of research yet, but I'm leaning towards getting some type of pool alarm in addition to fencing it in.  A girl on another board I visit had her toddler drown in her pool years ago and she highly recommends anyone with a pool getting an alarm.  Fences don't always stop them, nor will you necessarily hear anything if they get through it and fall in.
