Multiples

"Get your rest now..."

"..'Cause once they are here you will need it!"

Please, explain to me how I store up my rest so I can use it later.

I nodded and smiled for the first 8-9 months of people telling me this, but now its like...THHHHAAAANNNNKK YOOOUUUUU I KNOW!!!!

And you are making me dread giving birth cause I love me some sleep!

Re: "Get your rest now..."

  • I hated when people told me that too. Especially, since I wasn't sleeping. At first, I slept better than I had since I got pregnant. Now, the lack of sleep is a different cause but it's the same as when I was pregnant. I couldn't sleep while pregnant because of the multitude of issues and now I barely get sleep because of the babies. I love sleep too. But, at least, I'll get it back one day soon! :) Hey, some twins on this board STTN since 8 weeks. :) There's hope!

I get that all the time too. I know they're just trying to make conversation but I really want to respond with, "gee really? babies interrupt people's sleep? that is brand new information!"
  • It's the stupidest piece of "advice" ever.  People are idiots.

After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!

  • People give ths advice to singleton moms too and then it's compounded with multiples. Sometimes I want to say "oh really? You've had twins/triplets??" I find it funny that the know-it-alls don't actually have experience.

  • Yeah, everyone gets this comment. I know people are just talking out their ass when they say it. I wish I could bank all my sleep. I'd be pretty f'in rich right now. All I do is sleep.

  • it's god's cruel joke.  right at the end your body doesn't let you sleep, and that's when you need it most.

i do fully support leaving the babies in the nursery at the hospital and sleeping while you're there.

proof that i make babies. jack, grace, and ben, in no particular order

people used to say this to me... since i was on bedrest i must be "getting rest".   ugggh!  there was nothing comfy or restful about it.

the sentiment is right on.  but please, women are lucky to get good sleep late in pg.

  • You are right - can't bank sleep. Perhaps a better phrase is "enjoy your rest now!" Having been through it with just 1 infant, bad pregnancy sleep is still WAY better than the sleep we'll be getting for those initial weeks with infants.

Do you know when you're having them??? I'm hoping to make it to a scheduled induction on Monday with the doctor who is comfortable with Baby B breech.

    ....going to nap now!

  • There are so many stupid and idiotic things people say when you have twins, this is only the beginning!!!
  • i hated that, especially since i wasn't sleeping! i sleep so much better now! have since the day they were born :)
  • and honestly I think I could sleep for a week straight and still be tired.
