I feel bad for this girl

Her parents made her go to school sick, even with swollen tonsils?

"Perfect attendance" is not one of those things I think should be rewarded, there are many many times that someone should legitimately stay home.

in HS, we could miss a total of 4 days throughout the school year and still be considered "perfect" attendance.    Because, yeah, there are times you just shouldn't go and expose others to your funk.

  • I agree - the kids who get "perfect" attendance are usually the ones who bring their germs to school and get everyone else sick

Can't teachers/administrators send kids that are obviously VERY sick home?   Do they have any pull in that regard?   Or are they all at the mercy of anyone bringing their germs on any day?

  • A) Her parents are asses

    B) She was probably responsible for many illnesses among her peers

    C) No way she can continue that through college.  There are way more important things in college like booze and sleep.

  • Ugh. And these are also the people who get jobs and pride themselves on "never taking a sick day"...meanwhile spreading germs to all around or worse, becoming bosses that poo-poo others who take their earned sick leave.

    I HATE these people.

  • It's interesting you posted this.  At the school I work at we are not giving out awards on award day for perfect attendance this year.  The superintendent said he does not want to be encouraging kids to come to school sick just to earn an award, so it is not going to be recognized this year.  This is the first year they are doing that.  I agree, if they are sick they  need to stay home!  I don't want their pink eye, strep throat, H1N1, lice...whatever it is!
  • Good for your school Alpaca!  Perfect Attendance was an award idea that was thrown around for a minute or two when we were planning our awards ceremony, we nixed it REAL quick.
