Trying to Get Pregnant

Clomid tricky?

why does everyone say clomis is a tricky drug? Just wondering since this is my first cycle taking it. i had blood work done before i was put on it and go back on CD 22(CD 21 is memorial day) to get blood work done again.  I heard that i should have an u/s too so i will ask about that at my next appt. anything else? TIA

  • Clomid can have crazy side effects.  I have encountered hot flashes, headaches, mood swings and a couple of others.  also clomid can thin your ute lining and create cysts.

Day 14 u/s should be your follicle study to see is you are ovulating and with a good size follicle.

  • Clomid can cause a lot of adverse s/e which is why you should be monitored with u/s while taking it.  Clomid can cause thinned uterine lining, ovarian cysts and HOM just to name a few.

I assume you are getting the Clomid from an GYN?  My advice is if you need IF treatment you should ask to be refrerred to a RE.

  • It suggested that you take no more than 6 cycles worth in a life time. Don't exhaust it if you aren't doing it right (in which I mean your OB isn't having you do it right).

How many u/s did you have on it? If you say none, your doctor is a fvcking moron who should be shot at point blank range. If you are lucky your fertility won't be completely destroyed by their incompetence.

You can have thinned lining, too many follicles, no follicles, cysts, among other issues. It's not candy. Step away from the moron OB that gave it to you.

here here.   I personally had 2 ultrasounds while taking clomid.  It was because of said u/s's that it was discovered that Clomid had an adverse effect on my lining.    My RE's words:  "No fertilized egg in it's right mind would try to implant in that".

me taking clomid = never get pregnant.

  • ummm...im at a total loss right now....the only thing im scheduled for is CD22 blood work. My question is tho whats the point of a CD 14 u/s if youve already completed the clomid? lets say u do have a thinned lining then what? at that point whats supposed to happen? should i call my ob and ask about a CD 14 u/s?

  • oh and no hsg because there was no need for it. i had an u/s the week before clomid and an mri and everything was fine.
    Lilypie First Birthday tickers
  • well then i guess im calling my OB in the am but at this point what will it do? i guess if he agrees a CD 14 u/s or i should mentioned the monitoring for my next cycle. He did refer me to an RE i just havent made the appt. I should do that too.

  • Kdodge, you will love this:

My RE wants to put me on Femara. He said it wasn't necessary for me to have an HSG because I have no history of blockages. He also didn't think it necessary that DH have an SA since he's knocked up 2 other women.

I begged to differ, of course...on both counts.

I have an HMO, so no other options other than to stand up for how I would like my treatment administered.

  • could it be that he didnt do the cd3 u/s because i had one done the week before and it was ok? but i guess that doesnt excuse no u/s for cd14.

    WTF?

Ok, I will kind of go along with the DH thing (but SA's aren't that difficult and are relatively cheap), but how would you have any idea of a blockage until you TTC unsuccessfully? Most people have no clue when they find out at their HSG.

For real. I was shocked. I tuned him out after 'I don't think it's necessary that you have an HSG...' but I think he was rambling on about how I have no family history of blocked tubes.

    Yeah... anyways.

    I got my way.
