C-Section Fail

So I went in today for my scheduled c-section since LO is breech and not budging on her own and I ended up being bumped twice and then finally sent home! They had too many emergencies they said and DH and I waited from 11am to 4pm for NOTHING!! The entire time I was starving and they poked me 4 times to finally get an IV going. Best part? They wont take the IV line out b/c they had too much trouble putting it in, and that means I have to go back tonight and tomorrow morning to have it flushed. We're going to try again for the section tomorrow. We are so upset!

    That is awful. How disappointing :( That being said, I'm hoping you'll have your baby in your arms tomorrow and you'll think nothing of this inconvenience.

    DH is upset because he had taken vacation time and feels cheated out of a day with his daughter. We were soo excited and now we're just assuming the same thing will happen tomorrow. Also I cant move my hand and shower so that just sucks. Also means another full day of starving in case they can get to us. UGH

    Oh no! That stinks! All of it! Hope you have an easy time tonight/tomorrow! I'm being induced tonight so maybe we'll meet our lo at the same time :)

    Oh no! That has got to be incredibly frustrating!! I hope that tomorrow you will get to hold your precious LO and it will make all of the stress and frustration a distant memory!

    I'm really sorry that this happened to you.  I can't help but laugh a little bit though since you've been one to tout the wonders of Canadian healthcare so often.  I can't imagine for a moment going into my hospital for a scheduled c-section and being sent home...it just wouldn't happen.

    I feel your pain!....we have a failed induction yesterday and are headed back tomorrow morning to try again. DH and I are also assuming the worse, so there is not such a huge let-down again. I will be thinking about you and hoping that it goes your way! They cannot send us home twice, right?!?! Hang in there!

    You can shower- wrap the IV site in a plastic bag or saran wrap and tape the edges.  (First aid/medical tape works best. If you don't have any send your dh to the pharmacy/target/walmart for some)  Shower and unwrap. 
    I'm an occupational therapist in a hospital. I put people with IVs in the shower all the time using these methods.

    I have had an IV earlier in pregnancy that I had to shower with.  I wrapped mine in saran wrap and taped it (kept it elevated above the water) and had DH wash me and my hair.  Not ideal but at least you'll be fresh for the morning.  I'm sorry you're having to deal with that--must be insanely frustrating and disappointing.  Hope tomorrow goes smoother!  Good luck!

    oh im so sorry you had to go through that- but on the other hand be really glad you weren't one of those unscheduled emergency cases- i think that would be really scary for me.  I'm crossing my fingers that everything works out well tomorrow.
