skipping toddler bed?

sorry for all the crib talk

Who all skipped the toddler bed and went straight to big girl/big kid bed?

My mom said I went straight to my twin bed and didn't have an in between.

This again is one of those do I really need a _________ questions. Today it's do I need a toddler bed =)

  • We bought one but she used it as a stepping stool to get into the Queen bed that was in her room, so we could have skipped it.

We intend to.  Our crib is a hand me down and it doesn't convert to anything so when he's too big for it or is climbing out we'll just buy a twin.  I see no need for an in-between step.  We might put the twin on the floor for awhile if he's really little or falls out a lot.

  • We skipped on both Micaela and Kaitlyn.  Micaela went to a twin bed.  With Kaitlyn, she went to a queen size, only because it was the bed my MIL already had in her room since it was the 'guest' room.

  • her crib converts in to one, so if she is able to climb out of the crib before we're ready for her to be in the big bed, we'll transition her.

otherwise, we'll go straight to a big bed

  • We plan to skip it.  For those of you that did, how high off the ground is the bed?  Were they able to get in on their own.  This is my only concern.  But maybe a step stool would solve that.
  • we skipped it with no problems.

  • Maren went from crib to twin.  Blake would have done the same, but since he was the last to use the crib - we just converted it to a toddler bed until we had the chance to go and buy his twin bed.

There were no problems for us at all!

    We skipped it.

I did put the mattress on the floor to start with so no bed rail was needed and she could get in easily. The first time she saw it, she toddled right up to it and did a belly flop onto it with a huge grin Smile

  • We skipped it with Kohen.  He went to a twin sleigh daybed at 18 months.  No problems.  Kamryn is still in her crib just because I love her bedding :)
  • we skipped it. we might do the toddler rail on mathis's crib if we are still in this house but if we move, we will go stright to a bed for him too

  • I think we will be doing this as well then =)

    Thanks gals.

  • We bought the conversion kit for our crib when we bought the crib so we went ahead and converted it...but we didn't do a true toddler bed.  She's now in a full.
  • skipped it.  there was no way I was going to spend money on a toddler bed quite frankly.

  • We skipped it. We converted her crib to a full bed at 18 months. She moves around A LOT in her sleep and I figured she would just roll right off the toddler bed every night.

It's not a must have, but like having one because we did move her from a crib quite early on (15 mo old) and I thought a twin would be too high for her at that age.  And I didn't want a mattress on the floor.
