Another question about cleaning hardwood floors...

Does a steam mop damage old hardwood floors?

I'm interested in getting one, but our hardwood floor is original to the house and I don't think that it has ever been refinished. (Which means that they are about 60 years old. They probably need to be refinished because they are dull in worn in some places where there is very little polyurethane left on the floors.)

Anyways, I sweep regularly and use murphy's oil occassionally with a swiffer mop. I like the idea of a steam mop but I'm afraid it might damage the wood? WDYT?

Our floors are about 50 years old.  It doesn't seem to damage the floors, but I have noticed it does seem to highlight the areas that could really use a good treatment with Murphy's Oil.
