anyone had one? I am fairly certain I have one, it was exactly like the picture earlier this week. I treated with epsom soak and warm compress. However, this morning when I woke up it had a blood red spot on it, but it's not dried blood (I couldn't wipe it off - even with a wash cloth) so the blood must be under the skin.
Should I continue the warm soak/compress treatment or do you think it could be something else?
nothing else on kelleymom sounds right... I examined DS's mouth for symptoms of yeast and don't see any, nor have I ever had any of the symptoms. I don't seem to have any hard areas so I don't think I'm experiencing a clogged duct/mastitis as this point. Nor does the friction blister sound right (I wear loose clothing and change my soft breast pads often) - although I'm at work so I don't feel comfortable searching for a picture to compare, you know?
Re: milk blister/nipple blister/bleb
Yes, I had one during and after my clogged duct issue last week. Even after the bulk of the breast unclogged, I had a lingering blister. After a few days, some hardness returned. Eventually I was able to lightly scratch it away and clear everything with nursing.
I also had a tiny amount of bleeding, but I'm not sure I saw it like you describe.
I would continue the soak/compress and keep nursing -- I also did the chin point thing and started with that side more frequently. Even if there's no clog now, it could develop later like in my case. GL!
yes, should have mentioned this part!! It hurts when he initially latches and then the pain subsides, but doesn't completely go away and continues to throb a little bit through out the day.
It's the red spot that had me a little more concerned this morning.
I had to stop soaking during the day now that I'm back at work but I did figure out a way to do a warm compress - I brought soft cloths and get hot water out of the tea water tap on the water dispenser and leave that on for a few minutes before I begin to pump so hopefully that speeds things along.
thanks for the tips - I am totally nervous about it turning into a clogged duct.
Now that I was able to read up on it again and more thoroughly I think I might see what happens if I lightly scratch at it when I get home where I feel a little more comfortable and sanitary than the empty office I pump in at work.
I'm thinking during the night it might have tried to open, bled a tiny amount and then the swollen pore closed back over itself before morning since I just noticed it first thing this morning and it wasn't there when I did the soak and compress before bed last night.
