Hopping on during a rare moment when all three are asleep...
I have an OB appt tomorrow to check my BP/iron, so I'll ask these questions then, but I was wondering if you wouldn't mind sharing your experiences....
1) Has anyone had hard lumps appear along the incision? I have one big one and two smaller ones. I was thinking hernia at first, but they don't hurt. Dr. Google says maybe they're a build-up of fluid that will go away...
2) How long did you bleed for? I am still bleeding a decent amount (enough to need to use a pad).
3) Did anyone have burning/stretching pain when they moved around (along the incision)? Is this just normal as the muscles heal? I have no signs of an infection (no fever, no pain when I touch the incision scar, no oozing).
4) Bladder pain when you start/stop peeing?
Thanks, everyone!
Re: ?s for those who've had c-sections...
I had a few hard lumps appear along the incision. They went away after a few weeks and by my 6 week checkup they were gone.
I bled for almost exactly 6 weeks. I had stopped just a few days before my 6 week appointment. It went from light to medium most of the time. (It was heavy the first week but that was the worst).
I don't remember burning but my skin was extremely sensitive. My underwear couldn't touch my incision or my stretch marks on the lower part of my stomach. THe dr. told me it was my muscles were just hypersenstive after the surgery.
I don't remember bladder pain but that was a year ago so it is hard to remember for sure.
The bumps/bubbles along the incision are normal. Yes they are pockets of fluid and eventually may be scar tissue. No big deal unless they pop open and puss.
I bled for over 4 weeks, had a break then got AF at 6 weeks. I thought I was hemoraging, not ready for AF! If I over did things it would bring the heavy bleeding back in the begining.
The incision is tender for a LONG time. Tender, not severe pain.
I don't rememeber bladder stuff.
Good luck!

never had those, unless you count ingrown hairs. as long as they aren't painful i wouldn't worry too much; ask your OB to check them out.
2) How long did you bleed for? I am still bleeding a decent amount (enough to need to use a pad).
bled heavily for about 10 days, then lighter for another 2 weeks or so. it felt like it would never stop.
3) Did anyone have burning/stretching pain when they moved around (along the incision)? Is this just normal as the muscles heal? I have no signs of an infection (no fever, no pain when I touch the incision scar, no oozing).
i was the same way - my incision healed perfectly. my mom, who is an RN, told me that it was my body trying to tell me i was doing too much. i can't tell you how many times she said "you just had MAJOR abdominal surgery." i can still hear her saying it. totally normal. painful, but normal.
4) Bladder pain when you start/stop peeing?
never had bladder pain. i'd ask your OB about that.
GL!

Not sure if its the same thing but half of my incision healed raised and the other half you can barely feel
2) How long did you bleed for? I am still bleeding a decent amount (enough to need to use a pad).
6-8 weeks

yes..it still itches sometimes..not sure about the burning..
4) Bladder pain when you start/stop peeing?
don't think I had this but it could all be my foggy memory..
Good luck tomorrow!!
1. Had a smallish bump, looked like it would make the scar look funny, but 1.5 yrs later, looks even
2. 3+ weeks (forever!)
3. YES! I had a burning/stretching sensation when I moved around too much. It would feel like it was "under" the skin. I used ice a lot and it really helped.
4. don't remember.
HTH!

No but I did get infected

5 weeks then got the IUD and added another 6 weeks to that
3) Did anyone have burning/stretching pain when they moved around (along the incision)? Is this just normal as the muscles heal? I have no signs of an infection (no fever, no pain when I touch the incision scar, no oozing).
yep when standing or sitting but it was worse when I over did it or twisted.
4) Bladder pain when you start/stop peeing?
yep almost like my bladder got used to the pressure of the babies. It went away after a few weeks
I remember having some lumps at the incision. Even now, it feels like a rope underneath it. I was told that should go away at some point.
I bled for about 6 weeks. I remember it quitting right around the time of my 6 week appt. I would say after the first week or two, it wasn't as heavy.
I remember having some burning around the incision and it was extremely tender for quite awhile. It would bother me to have my underwear or pants touching the incision.
I don't remember any bladder pain.
1. No lumps but I'd imagine it wouldn't be abnormal with fluid, internal stitches and scar tissue forming.
2. #1 I bled HEAVY for 6 straight weeks. #2 I barely bled at all and only for 2 weeks. I think everyone is different here.
3. Lots of burning and stretching pains. Totally normal. Your muscles and uterus were cut! My best advice is that there's no brownie points to be earned with pain. Stay on top of your pain meds. It's harder to get back on top of it once they're all the way out of your system. I had to set an alarm to remind me to take them on time.
4. No bladder pain. That's 100% one I'd discuss with the doc. Go in prepared to give a sample for them to check for a bladder infection.
And... your new siggy is BEYOND adorable!
How's A doing?
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
1. Yes, I had several lumps that eventually went away. Mine were painful.
2. I bled for about 2 weeks.
3. Yes, totally normal. My doctor said it was just the muscle and nerve endings.
4. I don't remember any bladder pain, but I was in so much pain from the rest that I probably just didn't notice.

yes, scar tissue for me. totally normal, and now, almost 2 years later, i still have some harder spots
2) How long did you bleed for? I am still bleeding a decent amount (enough to need to use a pad).'
Nearly 7 weeks
3) Did anyone have burning/stretching pain when they moved around (along the incision)? Is this just normal as the muscles heal? I have no signs of an infection (no fever, no pain when I touch the incision scar, no oozing).
yes. Every layer is healing, not just the outside, so it all sort of pulled when I moved, for maybe 2 months or so
4) Bladder pain when you start/stop peeing?
I don't remember this, but honestly, I think there was some discomfort for a while in general
I had bleeding until 5-6 weeks (sometimes it would slow down, but then pick up a few days later).
I had burning/pulling along the incision site for about 6 weeks. I still get pulling sensations there, especially now that I am pregnant again.

Thanks for all the responses! I feel like I left the hospital completely unprepared as to what recovery would really be like (besides "no lifting"). I'll definitely talk to the doc about the bladder pain.
Thank you! Ava is doing much better. I think she is starting to accept that this is our new normal. We've been trying to keep things as consistent as possible for her in terms of schedule, and she is back on track for sleeping (thank GOD). I think it will only get better once I can do more with her independently. Thanks for asking!

YES. WEIRD. AND IT WENT AWAY.
2) How long did you bleed for? I am still bleeding a decent amount (enough to need to use a pad).
FOR A LONG TIME! DEFINITELY A FEW WEEKS. THEN IT TAPERED OFF SLOWLY.
3) Did anyone have burning/stretching pain when they moved around (along the incision)? Is this just normal as the muscles heal? I have no signs of an infection (no fever, no pain when I touch the incision scar, no oozing).
YES!!!!! I WAS TOLD THEY "TIE" OFF THE INTERNAL STITCHES TIGHTLY AT THE SIDE AND THIS CAN MAKE FOR SOME OW OW OW OW OW BURNING BURNING BURNING.
4) Bladder pain when you start/stop peeing?
I THINK I HAD THIS TOO. I WAS A HOT MESS. YOU HANG IN THERE LADY!
